  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I know that we have had lists before but i just want to know what you need to buy for a baby - from when they are born to around 12 months. I don't want to know about the clothes as we will have plenty of those given to us. It's the other stuff.

Also - which stuff is essential and which is good to have but you can live without?

And - can you put by the item when you would buy it

Oh and are there any websites where you can compare certain items for quality, price etc?

Thanks.

(Looks like i'm starting to get organised now lol)

Needs?
Diapers/wipes
if cloth diapers- a diaper pail of some sort
clothes
sling(s)
maybe a bedrail or something (or a crib)
some little blankets
car seat

That is seriously all I use-- although I have a liitle gym I put him under from time to time and I have a lambskin I lay him on while I am changing him. Baby uses a drawer in our dresser. I use my purse instead of a diaper bag and keep a few extra diapers in the car. I bite my baby's fingernails :sorry: I never use the stroller before about age 2. Swings and bouncy seats can be a lifesaver for some baby's--but others will have nothing to do with them. My babies are always in arms (or sling/carrier) nearly the entire time they are awake everyday. I usually only put them down to sleep or if I need to assist another child with something I can't do while wearing baby.

thank you :)

We have (or will be getting fairly shortly) quite a bit of the stuff that people have mentioned so at least i know where we stand.

That link was good smackyoutwice :)

What are beanies and boppy's??????
Beanies are little hats. I actually never use them, because for the life of me I cannot get them to stay on. After about 48 hours baby is able to regulate body temperature and probably is fine without a hat, unless it is really cold.

Boppies are horeshoe shaped pillows designed to go around the front of the mom while she is sitting to offer support for breastfeeding. I have one- but use it as a pregnancy pillow for sleeping (I can sleep on my tummy that way) and to offer support when baby begins sitting up. I can never get them around my waist when I am immediately post partum:o , and I also find it rather cumbersome to have pillows surrounding me when I am nursing--but I also have lots of nursing experience and pillows can be a mom's best friend as she is learning to nurse!

Thanks Rose.

I know what the boppy is now. i am getting one to help me sleep better and then you can use it like you said for feeding and/or supporting the baby sitting up. Everyone that i know just used regular pillows for support when feeding.
