  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

1 Cor 13:10 reads But when ever that which is FINISHED should come , then that which is in PART will be ABOLISHED .

#1 THAT WHICH / HO is a definite article , in the ACCUSATIVE CASE , in the SINGULAR

#2 IS PERFECT / TELEIOS is in the ACCUSATIVE CASE and in the SINGULAR , G5046

PERFECT can mean , full age , finished , perfct , brought to an end , adult , and mature .

#3 IS COME ,/ ERCHOKAI is in the AORIST TENSE , ACTIVE VOICE , SUBJUNCATIVE MOOD

#4 IN PART / MEROS is in the GENITIVE CASE and in the SINGULAR .

#5 SHALL BE DONE AWAY / KATARGEO is in the Greek FUTURE TENSE , PASSIVE VOICE , and passive voice means it is the HOLY SPIRIT doing the action and in the SINGULAR .

When reading verse 8 we all can see what is being ABOLISHED .

When reading verse 11 , that when we are INFANTS , we speak , think , and reason as INFANTS , but when you grow up and become a MAN , we put away those CHILDISH things , and what are they ?

They are in verse 8 .

I believe , what is FINISHED is the writings that the apostle Paul will be WRITING , FROM Romans through Hebrews .

I always use the KJV .

Paul here is talking about the word of God and 2 Peter 3:16 , that in all his epistles are HARD to understand , , which they that are Unlearned and Unstable Wrest also other scriptures unto their own Destruction .

And will lose many Rewards at the BEMA SEAT . 1 Cor 3:10-15 .

All should do 1 Cor 3:6 all better find out what the APOSTLE Paul has Planted and what Apollos WATERED .

1 Cor 13:10 "when but may come the perfect, then the in part shall be done away" That is exactly Paul's point as this verse indicates. When he who is perfect is fully revealed in His Glory, then anything and everything partial will be swallowed up in that fullness. A day of completeness and perfection is coming. Everything partial, temporary, or inadequate shall vanish in the light of Christ's brilliant power and glory. Skipping ahead Paul included the illustration of the mirror reflection. In Corinth they were made of polished brass so the image was dim at best. Silvering glass was not discovered until the 13th century. So on earth our sight of eternal things is at best indistinct. Human ,limitations make the fullness of our spiritual destiny hazy but that will change sometime in eternity for we shall know as we are now known and we will understand redemption and our redeemer fully.

What does it mean "When he who is perfect is fully revealed in His Glory, then anything and everything partial will be swallowed up in that fullness."

What are your thoughts on , " Then the in part shall be done away " mean ?

Is it not verse 8 tell us what it means ?

The return of Christ, and specifically the knowledge gained by his return. Paul says that he knows in part but at that return he will know fully, and will know God just as God knows him.

Yes we will know as what he really looks like , BUT where does mot say that in 1 Cor 13:8-13 ?

It is talking about that LOVE never falls down , like prophecies , Languages , will be ABOLISHED and what does FINISHED should come , and that we are INFANTS , and does that make sense to me ?

I have to go and will not come back , until Thursday !!

Thank God (literally) that there are still some people that read and understand the TRUTH in a world run amok with “new” interpretations. :ebil:

Therein lies the part that breaks my heart. Every word was translated correctly and the message was still lost ...

When reading verse 8 we all can see what is being ABOLISHED .
When reading verse 11 , that when we are INFANTS , we speak , think , and reason as INFANTS , but when you grow up and become a MAN , we put away those CHILDISH things , and what are they ?

I believe , what is FINISHED is the writings that the apostle Paul will be WRITING , FROM Romans through Hebrews .
Your mistake was selecting "FINISHED" rather than "PERFECT". That led you astray. "When WHAT is finished?" becomes the driving question; whose answer must be eisegetical if not extra-Biblical. (The only Biblical "It is Finished" is stated by Christ on the Cross before Paul wrote those words.)

YOU SAID: "I believe , what is FINISHED is the writings that the apostle Paul will be WRITING , FROM Romans through Hebrews ."
I believe THIS is where you "jumped the shark". You made Paul the center of God's plan ... a seat always held by Jesus Christ.
Had you chosen "PERFECT" instead of "FINISHED", you would have been forced to conclude that there is only one PERFECT and JESUS CHRIST would have been restored to the center of God's plan.

Shalom shalom (Perfect peace)
[I strive to encourage and build up rather than tear down, that is why I did not seek to correct your original post. To quote my Grandmother "If you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything at all."]

Many Greek words have more than ONE MEANING .

The Greek word GRACE has 12 meaning , and if you gave STRONG'S CONCORDANCE , see G5046 .
