WHat do you do with your old books when you have read them?

I keep and re-read them all, unless they're particularly bad.

I'd say I've read about 98% of all my books at least twice and the 2% I haven't re-read, I intend on re-reading... once I finish with The Horus Heresy series.

In our house there are three types of book:
Referance - Always keep, no matter how old as there is always bound to be something in them that is of use or interest.
Keep - These too, are on the never get rid of list, we will read them again and again.
Others - They land up in a charity shop.
I don't about anyone else but there is a sort of 'his' and 'hers' books in our house and each has to decide what to do with reading books, ref books are always kept.

I keep them to read again sometime. Of course I also lend them to people, but I would never give them away. Not if I liked them, which is almost always. I love my books.

I tend to keep the ones I really like, I pass them along and then when I need room on the shelf I weed out the ones I don't want anymore and give them away.

Yeah, I'm much the same I keep the ones I like and know that I will read over and over again and get rid of the ones that I don't like or grow out of.

It is a painful concept. I have a room full of books and I love it.
My husband thinks I should go through them all and give the ones I wont read again to charity.
He doesn't understand that asking me to part with a chunk of my literary history would be like asking SJP to part with her Jimmy Choo's
I know coveting is sinful but really should I part with my books?

I learned a long time ago that none of us have time to read any book twice. (I exclude the Bible from this rule!)

Because of this I always give my books away once I've read them. I either give a book to a friend who might find it interesting or (more usually) to the British charity Oxfam. They will sell the book in their shops and the money they raise will go towards famine relief.

I love books, so when I buy them (which happens more often than average, no doubt), it's so I can keep them and read them (again and again). In fact, I don't think I own a book that hasn't been read at least twice, unless it was something given to me that I wasn't too interested in; those are the exceptions, but they're rare.

What I do is if it is a really good book, I keep it and reread it. However, if the book is O.K. I gi9ve it to The Book Exchange over by LE BARON'S CAFE (aka Honkers) and rade it in for credit to get a cheaper, more fun to read book.

I like to keep a collection of books. Some Christian books though I will donate to the library if I think it will help someone else more than myself in the future.

95% of the time I give em away. Since I get them all second hand its not that expensive. I only keep the ones that are favorites.

If I like a book, I'll keep it and re-read it at a later date. If I don't like it, I'll give it to the Salvation Army or Value Village.

Most I keep if they are good. The rest I trade in to a used book store though in the future, I hope to eBay the hard covers since no used store around here likes hardcovers.
