• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What do u believe?

What do you belive about the Bible?

  • It is the inspired word of the living God and every word is true.

  • It is mostly true.

  • It is mostly false

  • It is a nice book of story, but they are fairy tales.

I would like to submit this site for all to examine. http://www.drdino.com/

I also encourage all people that r able to travel to go meet with all the people involved. Nothing like looking at people that were on the scene, and getting the information 1st hand.

Then I would suggest any1 that still believes and I stress the believe part in the so called theory of evolution to go sit with all the experts and look at there so called evidence and then ask them if they know when it was disproved?

From the very beginning with the first drawings about embryos it has been a well contrived lie but a lie none the less.

What has happened here? Where is our faith? God said let him be true and every man a liar. He said the just shall live by faith. What r we believing? are we believing man or are we believing the Bible is the inspired word of God?

Been there, got the t-shirt. Hey, I just sounded like Kent Hovind! :D

(And you do realize that everything "scientific" Hovind has said has been refuted, right?)

Also, I believe the Bible is true from the perspective of being a spiritual guide based on historical events, but not a factual, word-for-word description of the history of our world.

I am sorry, "dr Dino" is a fraud, he is not a Dr. and knows almost nothing about what he lectures on.

I do not believe that the Bible is literaly true, but I do not discount spiritual truth in it at the same time.

Unfortunatly there is no place in your poll for me.

I would suggest that any person who doesn't think evolution happened, learn biology from biologists and not the pulpit.

No thanks. I have no time to spend on people with mail order Ph.D. degrees pretending to be scientists.

Tut tut now, he spent 9 years getting a Ph.D in (I think) biblical studies at an unacredited 'university'. Its obvious the man is trust worthy, and knows more about biology, geology, and every other field of science than any 'evilutionist'.

Seen it.

Could you help me out a bit here? Could you go through the evidence that's been put forth, and, for each piece of it, tell me when it's been disproved so I'll know what answers to look for?

Hi all!

I'm going to recycle & resubmit an old post:

About a "literal reading" of the Tanakh. I don't think that any two people could agree on a "literal reading" of, say, Genesis (certainly mine, as an orthodox Jew and based on the original Hebrew, will probably differ in many particulars from that of a fundamentalist Protestant, based on the
KJV); such a thing is inherently subjective and based on our own idiosyncrasies, psychological/emotional/spiritual baggage and personal it-seems-to-me's. Thus, we should be very leery of basing beliefs and/or arguments on a "literal reading" of the scriptures. Those who do insist on a strict, narrow, "literal" interpretation of this or that section of scripture are, I believe, forcing it into a literary and spiritual strait-jacket entirely of their own devising that does no justice to the scriptures..

So, that being said, how do I, as an orthodox Jew, view Genesis? Well, of course, I believe that it (and the other 4 books of the Torah: Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy) is the literal word of God as He revealed it to Moses our Teacher. We believe that the Torah can be
understood/appreciated/interpreted on any of four general levels ranging from that which is most in accord with a close reading of the (original Hebrew!!!) text, to the metaphorical, to the most rarefied and esoteric (the grasp of which is waaay beyond most of us). Who is to say which chapter and verse of Genesis is to be best understood or appreciated on which level? Moreover, our Sages say that the Torah is like a diamond with many facets, each with its own brilliance, each offering a different perspective from which to behold the wondrous jewel.

I do not see why God could not have created His world and the life in it through and by the system we (as yet) imperfectly understand as "evolution". I do not see how the previous sentence violates anything I said in the previous paragraph or in how orthodox Jews appreciate the Torah.

Lastly, I would humbly argue that we are grasping at trees & missing the forest. What is more important, (sterile?) debates over whether Genesis proves/supports or disproves/opposes evolution, or discussing, studying and seeking to internalize its sublime moral, ethical and spiritual truths (such as befit the word of God)?

Be well!

:( Hovind's dishonesty unfortunately put him in jail.

The man claims to have seen several living dinosaurs. In one discourse he claims to have caught one in lake Michigan on a fishing trip. If this is true, why do all of the other Ohio fisherman only catch Walleye and Bass?

Must be the bait I've been using, 'cause I live in Ohio and go fishing once in awhile.

Barring a few spelling and punctuation errors this could have been my post... Lewis, are you reading my mind again? :)

Did Hovind really spend 9 years getting his degree from Patriot? Because, if so, the man's a bigger idiot than even I thought.

I've seen Patriot's "catalog" and you should be able to get a Ph.D of Hovind's type within about 6 weeks of minimal effort. And that's assuming you only have enough working brain cells to open a beer can.
