How do you go about getting a girlfriend if you are self-conscious about yourself and fear what others or she thinks about starting a relationship, but as you don't do anything others come in your place?

CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I do have someone in particular, but I haven't made a move so my friend did instead. It's complicated why I don't act.

Well if she's currently going out with a friend of yours then forget about her. The next time she's single, if your still interested, grow a pair and make a move. Most guys find it embarrassing and hard to ask a girl out, you've just got to swallow you're pride and go for it. The worse that can happen is she say no, not the end of the world! The good thing is, the more girls you ask out, the easier it gets. Good luck.

You don't. You first work on your own feeling of self worth until you know you could be an amazing partner for a woman, you can court her and love her and marry her. Unless you feel ready and worthy, it isn't the right time, you'll be using someone as a crutch for your own insecurities.
