What Do I Do About My Wife?

Thank you, BFA! I was reading this thread and getting worried. The liberties folks take! I was wondering how some of The other people would take it if they camE with a similar problem and folks started telling them theIr mate was possessed by satan and dangerous to their well being without knowing anything more about her or the entire situation.

That being said, young man I will keep you and your wife inmy thoughts an prayers.

What liberties Princess? We are either controlled by Gods Spirit or by Satans spirit... we are all in danger of this. Attacking your spouse with a taser, let alone trying to physically harm them, is not the Spirit of God.

Amen...sometimes I speak before I think too. It's an issue that is emotionally charged. I believe we have to show grace and mercy for those who are at their low points in life. But, we have to continue in the direction of restoration, not apostasy. We should never put the day above restoring a child of the Most High God even if what we do on the Sabbath in the direction of restoration appears or even is a violation of Sabbath principles. This is something clearly taught by Jesus. It's even something Jesus was rebuked for by the pharasees.

God's love to you brother...

If this verse was really referring to this issue I would have to say I would rather be least in the kingom with my wife rather than great in the kingdom without her.

Paul said to those who were without the law he became as those without the law so that he might save some. This did not mean Paul was turning his back on God but it did show the higher essence of the law, which is grace, mercy and love. For in these things there is no law.

Suppose we had a woman who reported that after sitting down to dinner with her husband, who screamed at her for overcooking the roast and hurled the dinner plate at her.

Upon reporting this incident on CF, the first reply suggests that she should try to honor her husband and heal his pain by making sure to always cook meat rare. One poster actually says that the whole conflict is her fault because she was being so careless as to burn the roast. Immediately, other posters rush to defend her - on the grounds there was no grounds the charge that she actually burnt the roast!

After the 30 replies, only one poster actually suggests that it really isn't about the roast at all, that there are actually deeper issues behind this. Unfortunately, even he fails to make the important point that a same man would not hurl a dinner plate at his wife over a burnt roast.

I cannot even express how appaling it is that so many people are bending over backwards to make excuses for a woman who not only has failed to show proper submission to her husband (Eph. 5:22-24) but also is clearly manifesting the spirit of murder. (Matt. 5:22) How many people want to excuse the inexcusible. "She's hurt". "She's demon possessed." You don't know that, and even if it were true, there is nothing besides prayers, that her husband can do for her if she's going to be violent to him.

The issue here, at least at face value, is not about an over cooked roast. If it were I would say he has a problem with loving his wife and self control.

The issue here is how she has been led to see God either by the people in her church or by her husband. We don't even know her true reason for attending church in the first place. She migh have had these feelings about God even while in church but are now only surfacing. Either way we don't know the whole story since we only have one side. And remember, there are two relationships she is struggling with right now, God's and her husband's.

As far as his personal saftey is concerned, that is all his personal choice. If things begin to grow worse he should at least start out by filing a police report or confide in a couple friends just to get something on file for his own protection. Some states will arrest based on information given in the report so he must take that into concideration. Either way it's all his personal choice as to how he should proceed.

Whatever action we take in life when trying to restore hurting or rebellious people it's always better to error on the side of grace, mercy and love.

James 2:12-13 So speak and so do as those who will be judged by the law of liberty. For judgment is without mercy to the one who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment.

Let me tell you a personal story of my life. I remember when I was 12 years old. I had two older sisters, the oldest being 16 and two younger brothers, the youngest being 2 years. I remember one day my mother was flipping out even to the point that she kicked the little gate that keeps my little brother out of the kitchen. When she kicked the gate her foot got stuck in the gate and she fell to the floor, we were all crying. She was struggling with something that was causing big problems in our family. It was later that we learned, with shock, that she had cancer, she died at 39 years old.

We don't have all knowledge and none of us is without sin. Let us all band together and pray for this family that they would all have a personal encounter with God's life changing love.

The root of all human problems is the spiritual problem. The foundation of spousal love is the love for the Lord.

The deeper issue is his wife's love for the Lord, the lack of it. My take is that if the Lord had allowed the marriage to consummate, He has already made provisions for the troubles again of time. All we have to do is to trust the Lord. He will lead us and protect us. We have to allow Him to do the work through us by reflecting the lamb-like loving character of Jesus.

It sounds like the wife's problem is Christianity in any form....
...My guess is that she would dislike any open form of religion by the way you said she acted.
...Just don't hit or kick her back or you get to see the Po Po.

I would think by hitting or kicking back to your wife, you will have a bigger problem than seeing the Po Po and facing the judge in your town.

Branden,

I am sorry to hear of your situation and know that you and your family are in my prayers. There is a book I read a few years ago that helped me through a tough time in my life (death of my 1st wife) that I would recommend. It is called His Robe or Mine. You can get a free copy at justifiedwalk.com. It also comes with a CD sermon overview of the contents of the book. At one point in the sermon there is a personal testimony that broke me down into tears. You may find it relevant to your situation. This little book and CD have changed my outlook on life and others and my walk with Jesus in such a way I cannot even explain. Again, you are in my prayers and my hope is that you and your wife can be reconciled in the Lord.
