What did you drive at age 5?

Yep that be her without the fancy custom bumper
Back in the day they sure didn't look so fancy as that one. I remember the ones in the field they just shut down and put a coffee can over the stack at the end of the day ( the stack went up through the hood on them, not like the one in the photo). The grey looked pretty good but the red was all faded out. Same on the IH, red didn't hold up well back then.

Closest I ever got to driving one of those Fords was an IH with a 4 banger in it.
This Ford would be similar but restored beyond factory probably.
And a 35 Ford much like my Dad let me steer while sitting in his lap:
I now have a 1940 Farmall H ... tons o' fun to drive!

Wow ! Yah that's bigger than the one I drove. The farm guys down the road had those but the hay guys had the Fords. The IH I drove got towed around to job sites behind the Dodge dump truck I learned to drive stick shift on. It was maybe slightly larger than the Fords.

You're reminding me of a part of my childhood that wasn't much fun. When I worked for my grandfather on his farm, the "fun" part of the week was parking on the town square on a Saturday night and listening to my uncles talk about trucks and tractors with their friends.

It bored me to tears. So, my cousin and I would start chasing the girls ... wait ... I guess it was fun.

No way! You had to steer or it would roll over (hence the term Flyer).

Rode a tricycle but by age 8 had a bicycle and drove our old '49 chevy half ton (farm)
Right! So I don't think I dared to let go the whole time! But I wasn't going too far.

A little slope in those days seemed like a mountain. Likewise with the 15 foot snowbanks (which we rarely see any more).

Most of the kids on my block drove tricycles, but I had a cool 4-wheel wagon.

I think 5 was about the age when we transitioned to bikes, creating a 2-wheel equality. But prior to that, I was the envy of everyone.

An orange tractor.
