• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

What did you do today?

Depression is difficult and its hard to see anything positive. But step by step people do recover. I want this thread to be something positive. If you struggle with depression tell us something you did today that was positive no matter how small.

If you haven't done anything positive yet, think of something then do it and tell us, even if its just for one day. It may be just getting out of bed when you haven't been able to previously. It may be admitting that the 'I am worthless' thought is a lie from the enemy.

Try it just for one day, just for a moment, so we can celebrate that moment together and encourage one another.

this thread is a good idea :)

I guess something positive for me is that I ate a bit today after not really eating for a while.

Your body will be very thankful for your decision today. I'm really proud of you and pray that step by step you will continue to make positive decisions to look after yourself. But no matter what happens tomorrow, nothing can take away today's small victory :)

Well...

Looking at the good only, I helped my mother deliver flyers as advertisement for the kids' camps we're hosting at my home church, with some other people...

And I've been attending a young adults' group that I helped form for my church, although I have really bad social anxiety... I guess those are good things...

Thanks for sharing, they are fantastic things too. I have struggled with social issues myself in the past so I know how scary it is and how much courage it takes. I'm really proud that you put yourself out there today :) :)

I had a victory of some magnitude today - I did my first few hours of volunteer's work today after 17 years of illness. The day went well and I got to know a few new people.

From now on every Friday I hope to do volunteers work at a local community centre for senior citizen.

I also brought our main water pump to get fixed. The pump had broken down and I got it fixed and put it back into place again when I got home from work.

All in all I had a productive day.

Something positive for me is that my thoughts are now a lot less with my OCD, and I feel much happier :) also I have been going out a lot more lately and I have seen lots of my friends, because if you go back only 3 weeks I was scared to leave home so I have been a lot better recently :) I would say what I have done today but its only 9AM at the moment :)

It's very early a.m. so will just share what I did yesterday. The most postive thing I can think of is that I came to the realization that a particular relationship (friendship) is pretty one-sided on my part so best to back off and let it go without feeling abandoned or rejected but just knowing that it is okay and that this doesn't mean I am a person who is not worthy of a better relationship. Movin on without bitterness and accepting the relationship for what it is..a sometimes friendship, co-worker, and fellow church member. Not going to be the close friend I thought and it is okay. Can still love and pray for this person. All in God's hands, not mine.

Again I wrote in my mood diary. Then I did another task my therapist gave me - I wrote out negative thoughts and then found positive alternatives to these negative thoughts. I only did it with two similar thought but it`s more than nothing. :) I also wrote answered prayers in my prayer journal. I guess I can still write.

Prayer time during a nice early morning walk. Bible study. Fixed ham and noodles in the crock pot for lunch. Conversation and prayers with husband regarding a pending decision. Decided to give the matter more time before making any changes. Watched a movie with lunch. Missed the last part cause I fell asleep. Now off with my dh (dear husband) to look for a new refrigerator. For the first day of summer it is brrr cooler here than ever expected; but not raining yet, anyway.
