It's funny, but I've been interacting with many of you for years and I know nothing about the church you attend. If you feel comfortable, can you tell us about the church you attend.

If you are an SDA, can you tell us a bit about the size of the church, the style of worship, the programs, the sermons and anything else that might help us learn more about you? What do you like about it?

If you are not an SDA, can you tell us about the denomination (or non-denomination) of the church where you attend? What is the size? Style of worship? What programs does it offer? What are the sermons like? What do you like about it?

Ex-SDA here. Usually attend no-denominational churchs. Have conducted some home church's too. Fellowship is good but don't feel a need for much structure in my worship and it's hard to pin it down to just one or 2 days a week of "worshipping".

Listening to a conventional sermon is not enjoyable at all. I need the give-and-take that a study group provides.

We attend an Alliance church (CMA) and a non-denominational church in another town that we visit a few times a year. I really like the non-denomination church, but it is way too far to attend regularly. The pastor there is very much aligned with John McArthur. He preaches through books of the Bible, line by line.

Wow Tonks, we're practically neighbors!

I attend Seattle area United Church of God in Bellevue. Typical congregational service attendance about 150. Worship style is rather "traditional" although the selection of hymns would seem rather ecclectic to an outsider. There is a Sabbath school and a weekly bible study. Service includes a sermonette (mini-sermon usually given by a deacon or elder) and a sermon (usually given by an elder or pastor). The people are a very close knit bunch. Adventism without legalism. :)

Well, I live in the SF Bay Area, so I attend one of the SDA churches there. I worship style is untraditional Adventist, as we have been referred to as the Beacon Light SDA, Missionary Baptist, Church of God in Christ......LOL!!! While a lot of the music is [urban gospel, we tend to be ecclectic in our tate and we LOVE to sing hymns, and any music well done from the heart in pariase and worship to God.

Adventist staples like jewelry have not been an issue for years.

I absolutely lover interacting with all of your. Such a diverse group! Praise God!

I go to an SDA church in the Central Valley of California. About 300 or so people, I guess. I like it because we have a Sabbath Keepers Motorcycle Ministry chapter (we ride Harleys around and talk about Jesus). In addition, nobody glares at you if you order clam chowder at a post-ride restaurant. There are people in the church who wouldn't be caught dead in pants or a necklace and there are others (like me) who wouldn't be caught dead in a dress and has tattoos. All are welcome. Last year I sat next to a Hell's Angels biker who wanted to visit just to "see what Jesus was all about". Cool, eh? Our associate pastor is a converted used-to-be Hindu and he's really funny (as in humorous, not strange). The senior pastor is quite senior (in age) but last summer he icurred an injury while trying to playfully knock his wife off of a jet ski (go figure). The music is a mix of traditional "Old Rugged Cross" stuff and contemporarty Michael W. Smith. I don't know lots and lots about church philosophy yet because I am new. That is why I'm enjoying reading what you guys have to say.

I'm sorry, what??
Hot,

I have just now reread this thread and I did not see your reply until this reading.

I was thinking of my own red-hot zeal, like Moses at Mt. Sinai, and then Moses at the Rock for water the 2nd time, where his zeal for the people of the Lord had cooled. My own experience is similar. The last time we go up the mountain we will be alone, but we get to see the goodly land.

So it seemed good to witness to the manifold wisdom of the Lord as he moves us through the 4 fold process of grace.

As I saw your picture, this process came to mind.

May the Lord give us grace for grace.

Your brother in the Lord Jesus,
Joe.

Praise God!! This sounds wonderful!, and something we are working toward at my church up in the Bay Area.

Uh, which church is it? Oftentimes, the entire motorcycle group will visit a smallish or conservative SDA church to spread the word about how important we think evangelism is. Since I'm new to the church and since I happened to find a real liberal and active church, I didn't realize that historically, SDA churches tended to be cliquish and stuffy. So, if your church is trying to move away from that then we'd be the perfect example.

Also, I've heard that many churches focus on unique SDA doctrines such as the Sabbath and clean/unclean foods. Since we come into contact with lots of different people (many who are into drugs, motorcycle gangs, and murder) our ministry just preaches lots of Jesus.

The only reservation some SDA churches have had about us is that having a bunch of leather- clad bikers riding into their parking lot on loud Harleys is just too much. We are not welcome at those churches but that's OK. If your church would rather that the cavalry not crash down its doors, I'd be glad to visit your church alone.

So, hope to see you soon!
