For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world. (1 John 2:16)

What are some of the thoughts that come to your mind when you read this scripture?

What do you think about the world; the pride of life, lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes: What does all that mean to you?

What do you think about the Father and the undeniable difference between that of the Father and the World itself?

People suffer from ego-fear. They exploit others and themselves in the hope of gaining validity. We live in a world battlefield of contending egos, a life of conditionality. We humans are fearful lot.

God is unconditional love, faith, and truth. But most don't understand that because their own reference point is conditional. In other words, they still don't know the truth. Jesus Christ's reference point is God the Father, and knew what the truth is (God), and taught it. Surrender of 'ego-self' clears the way to the Truth. That is why the humble and meek will inherit the earth (the new world).

It is a reference to Satan's domain here as many verses show (note 2 Cor. 4:3-4; John 12:31; etc); and we see even from Genesis 2 & 3 how the enemy of God's created people works always to draw souls away from our God ---and mankind has fallen into a self-centered rebellion against God. As any good father would do, our Creator allows us liberty to make right choices, but in our nature we indulge self. People even invent ideas about God --not reading His immutable Word. Satan is referred to as "the god of this world", and many souls listen to his lies and not God's Holy "Word of Truth", as our Creator-God calls us to.

We need to die to our big I before we can enjoy the love of God in our small i. To side with God's loving truth through Jesus Christ is essential to break free from the power of the ego so we can have our reality build into God's kingdom instead.

My last Big I

i heard and saw
for myself
what big I's
do best,
replying first
to Heaven's questions.

i heard and saw,
"Me!! Yes, I..!"
answering triumphantly,
ignoring the rest of me,
self-importance rising proudly,
“I.., I.., I..,
yes.., ME!”

i had heard and seen,
“Who is first?
Who deserves to be in Heaven?
Who earned the power, glory and honour over here?
Who is more important?
Who deserves the crown?
Who wants to live forever?”

i heard and saw
that there was
no room
for the rest
of myself,
nor anyone else,
either!

i heard and saw
merely a
swollen ego
boasting
arrogantly
I am
best!

i heard and saw
a marvellous Light
decent from Heaven,
screaming,
my big I lit-up
from hair to toe
aflame!

i heard and saw
in The End
a final tiny
flame flickering,
my big I
blazed out
for good!

i heard and saw
much better
after i had
that 'hiccup'
going up
tho'

I like 1watchman's point of view from Scripture. According to God's Word, we can safely say that this present world was never meant to be God's Kingdom, but instead to show the results of Satan's original sin in wanting to be God. This why in this world so many things seek perfection but can never reach it. Everything decays and perishes. But looking in God's Word at the ways it is to manifest, we can see the difference, a new heavens and a new earth wherein there is love and peace and no evil, no death, etc. I love to think about that world to come.

The world means the people. The many people form the world. If you do what they want you are part of the world. Jesus seperated himself from the world and was murdered, so the apostles and all saints (martyrs). And everyone who want to live godly in Christ will be persecuted - bible. The world hate them, just like they hated Jesus. Becuase they are dirty they hate the pure, if they become dirty as them they will accept them and their thinking will become like themselves, they will also hate anyone pure. Purity is not only sexual. Anyone can get defiled by the world. But the virginity is the highest virtue which alone can save you. I don't mean like the christians. I mean like the ones who enter the highest levels of heaven. The real salvation for which Jesus talks. Becuase heaven is the kingdom of the spirits and anyone is there. This doesn't mean the christians enter it. They enter low levels of heaven. Paul is talking at least for three levels of heaven. God, together with the gods live in the highest level of heaven: isaiah 14:13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:. "the mount of the congregation (of the gods), in the sides of the north:". This is the highest level of heaven. Only those like God the father are there. Those who created the human, when God said let "us" create the human in genesis.

We are in the flesh for a very short time. It is a weak vessel. Our only connection to our Father is through His Holy Spirit. When we "quench" His Holy Spirit He is grieved. We do this through lust. We must set our eyes higher than what is given through the flesh because the flesh will die and one day be judged. If we are proven righteous we will not suffer the second death.

Maybe we could learn a lot from Christ's background.

Obviously, it is in Christ's nature to be humble. He was born in a manger, to a carpenter and was from a town, that was frowned upon for whatever reason. Remember there was Nathaniel, who even asked the following question, "Can anything good come out of Nazareth?" Meaning some people, didn't expect much to come from a town like that.

I have always asked myself this question, Why did He choose a carpenter for a father? why a manger when He was Supreme ruler? why come from a town that was looked down upon by people and why, did He seem to live a hand to mouth type of lifestyle? I think Christ had already began to minister there. During His earthly ministry, He would often go out of His way for His brethren, who were not even of His class as He was King. His love & humility were simply amazing.

James 1:13-14
New International Version

13 When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone; 14 but each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed.

desire for material things and selfishness (the world) .... where as the Fathers' focus is on relationships of integrity and being selfless/giving.

We are to be in the world, but not OF the world.

So, that is two-fold.

1.) we are born again, OUT of the world and into the Kingdom of God. So realize this, is the first method to be in the world, bodily, but not of the world, Spiritually.
To be "of" it, is to be "like it", in thought, deed, purpose, and that is "lust of the ......."

2.) The "world", is symbolic for "world system". The "world system" is run by the "god of this world".
So, to be "worldly"< is to be "of lust", as this is the nature of the Devil.
This is all the unbelievers.

The Born again have as our divine nature the "righteousness of God in Christ".
This is our born again Spirit that exist as "ONE with God" and not "of" the world.

Our born again reality, as a lifestyle, is to reflect that we are in the world but not "of" its "worldly" nature.

Because God didn't want Him to have an earthly credentials. If He was born into royalty from, say, Jerusalem, then others could claim that He had some type of privilege. Jesus came as a servant to serve all humankind.
