Right, although to be honest christian metal isn't really metal at all. This is the great identity crisis of Christian music, with no real identity of their own they struggle to co-identify with other legitimate genres. The SOuth Park "Faith + 1" episode comes pretty close to hitting the nail on the head here.
I don't know what the problem is. Metal is a genre, what you sing about doesn't change that. There is some classical music written to glorify God, and there is some that is based on pagan myth, it's still considered classical music though.
Theocracy!Lol.. I checked out that song. I was like... well, the definition of metalcore sure has changed if this is metalcore. Then right in the middle "ARID JFLJTL KJADAF!" Oops, never mindBut ya the lyrics are nice... if you read along.
I don't know if you'll like any of these cause none of these bands are anything like that but, anyway, never hurts to check them out I guess...
Theocracy
Barren Cross (80's Iron Maiden type stuff)
Rob Rock
Mehida
Harmony
Darkwater
Wingdom
Stryper
Seventh Avenue
Magestic Vanguard
That's all I can think of right now. Top 3 are my favorites though. Excellent solid bands. The rest are good and have some really good strong songs but then they have a bunch of crap too.
Theocracy!
Mirror of Souls Is awesome...
Seventh Avenue, I found to be decent. Not too much a fan of Barren Cross. Too Glam... For me... I don't like glam... But! Two each their own, I suppose. Rob Rock awesome too. Incredible vocals.
Have you heard of "Driver", Skullet?
It was probably someone older, like myself. The definition of metal music, and its various sub-categories, has changed greatly over the years.I think what he means is that christians mislabel there music. Like on this thread someone mentioned Demon Hunter. Demon Hunter isn't TECHNICALLY metal. It is heavy and awesome though. I have heard a lot of people also call The Devil Wears Prada and Underoath (and other similar bands) metal in christian circles and it just plan isn't.
allow me to explain- and we are kind of splitting hairs hereIt was probably someone older, like myself. The definition of metal music, and its various sub-categories, has changed greatly over the years.
