What are your plans for the eclipse?

On 8/21 we will have the "Great American Eclipse." So-called because it will be visible coast to coast and the US is the ONLY country to see the total eclipse.

It will be here, just north of DC, between 2:30 to 3 pm with about 86% occlusion, and I will step outside at work (hopefully it will be a clear day) to watch for at least a few minutes. We already have our protective glasses and I bought extras so that others here can watch too.

I hadn't heard about the eclipse and am sorry to read that only the US will get to see it on this occasion since I don't live in the US. I expect there will be plenty of footage on tv and social media for us to watch over here, though. Enjoy the experience!

Sorry you will not get to see it. I am sure it will be broadcast live from various observatories and colleges, so you can see it on the web.

Here is a map of the path of totality.

My BIL is going to Tennessee to watch it and my son is planning on driving down to South Carolina. They both live in Virginia Beach.

There is a 9/23 doom meme going around, and this solar eclipse may be seen as a harbinger of judgment for some - especially since there will be another one seven years later.

Sorry but I see no solar eclipses anywhere near England for the next several decades. The closest will be the next one to hit the US, Apr 8, 2024. It runs out just before getting to the British Isles.

You could be out in the middle of the Atlantic on that day and see it ....
