Great testimony upon reading and coming out the other side for the better (I think) with Dawkin's nonsense.I am reading "Examine the Evidence: Exploring the Case for Christianity". I enjoy books that force me to open the Bible. I take notes over them too. My wife calls me a nerd. I am on a record pace this year for number of books read. This year so far I read:
"The Church Is Not for Perfect People" by William Murray (former atheist activist)
"The Case for Christ" by Lee Strobel (most powerful part is when the physician describes crucifixion)
"Is Christianity Good for the World?" Debate Hitchens Vs. Wilson (Wilson, the pastor, dominated. Hitchens should have stopped in first round)
"God:The Evidence" by Patrick Glynn (another former atheist. Who offers different evidence I haven't read before).
My next book I finished this year I am hesitant to list...
I read "The God Delusion" by the infamous Richard Dawkins. I heard references to this book by many Christian authors. I was curious, I believed myself to be well equipped for anything he might say, and figured what wouldn't kill me would make me stronger. I was right. I even read it at a depressing and frustrating time and I bounced right back. I promised myself no matter what arguments he would put up I would not be lazy in my faith, I would seek the truth. I don't recommend this book. Dawkins is extremely negative ( to put it as nice as I can). He often refers to himself or to websites/articles that he is a contributor to. His language is sarcastic, intolerant and derogatory. He stated at the beginning of his book his goal was to turn the reader into an atheist. Failed. Not for new christians. Not really for anyone. It would only add hate to an atheist's heart. Would only anger a well seasoned Christian and possibly be detrimental to new believers. It's worth would be better suited as a toiletry.
I have to go calm down now. I am getting angry just thinking about it. I am sorry.
