You don't take my word for it. You read the Bible, it's in there.
This depends entirely on whether he is a soft atheist or hard atheist. If he is a Hard Atheist, then he would be asserting such.BigChrisFilm said:You are the one making the incredible claims. You are the one saying God doesn't exist.
You assert the positive. You claim that God exists and it is wholly onto you to back up your claim. You are supposed to provide evidence for your positive position and it is up to Atheists to consider such evidence.BigChrisFilm said:You need to provide proof of that claim, not me.
But I am entirely serious with myself. Now please show how it is an undeniable fact that the universe has no chaos.BigChrisFilm said:It's an undeniable fact if you will be serious with yourself.
But it's perfectly acceptable for you to say we're all vile sinners and will be tortured for all eternity? Double standard much?
As for proving God, you are the one making the claim. The burden of proof falls on you. But, from what I've seen logic and faith just don't mix and I know what you rely on.
I'm going with WorldFriction too.
Read it.Give evidence that the Bible is true.
An Appeal to Popularity is a formal fallacy, not a good argument. This is a Christian forum. It is not against the rules to preach the Word of God. You don't have to be here, but if you are going to stay, you should realize you ARE going to get preached to. However, you are not allowed to flame me, nor am I aloud to flame you. I am however aloud to tell you what God says about you. You are the one making the claim. You are the one saying God doesn't exist. That's a claim. You must provide proof. In the mean time, I will stick with the majority.
I've red the Bible. Why believe it over the Koran, the Bhagavad Gita, or any other religion with or without scriptures?

You cannot switch the burden of proof arbitrarily. Why should the burden of proof be switched? You cannot start a discussion, state a viewpoint and then demand everyone else disprove you. You must do your own work.
Please, drop the pomposity.
But I am entirely serious with myself. Now please show how it is an undeniable fact that the universe has no chaos.
I have and it doesn't match up with reality. Go to the Crevo forum and see why. Why don't you read the Principia Discordia and see who it's superior to the Bible. Remember, this is the Non-Christian Forum, all religions are equal here.Read it.

Hint there was never a world wide flood. That story is mere myth that was most likely copied from Babylonian myth along with the creation myth.Because the Bible is true. The Bible has never been proven false, whereas the Qur'an has.

I'm a soft atheist. I'm actually somewhere between atheist and agnostic, but as I see no reason to believe I identify more as an atheist.
One, what you consider chaos may not actually be so. But there can still be chaos, and God can still be in control of chaos. You are completely wrong. If we were standing in a group of people, everyone believes the sky is blue, and you walk in and say, no it's not. YOU are going to have to prove that wild, absurd claim to the other 99% They don't have to prove anything to you.

You assume your conclusion in your premise. It presumes that God even exists. I contest any reason to assert a God/s and therefore it is wholly moot to me.BigChrisFilm said:One, what you consider chaos may not actually be so. But there can still be chaos, and God can still be in control of chaos.
Yes. But you made the affirming statement in this case. If you were in a group of people where 99% believed the sky was blue and you were asked your standpoint, and you assert that you do not believe the sky is blue - it is not upon you to reason your standpoint - it is on everyone else to provide reason or evidence for theirs.BigChrisFilm said:You are completely wrong. Go read it again, and again, until it you understand. That's the best advice I could give you.
There's already a debate about the color of the sky here. The general consensus seems to be that it isn't blue.
Because the Bible is true. The Bible has never been proven false, whereas the Qur'an has.

All you are doing is making assertions on the universe. No actual evidence has yet been provided, only speculation. To accept your viewpoint necessarily entails the individual to accept God's existence and therefore you have to show how God exists first.

The burden of proof is on the one who makes the affirmative statement. You are the thread starter and debate originator here and therefore you must fight your own battles.
You mean until I brainwash myself? I've read it, it doesn't coincide with reality. I can't change reality no matter how hard I try, thus the Bible must be the one with the problem. Have you noticed that with so many different denominations of Christianity that they can't agree as to the exact interpretation of the Bible. All of them accept Christ, but why can't they see the glorious truth of the Bible? Is Jehovah a deceiver?
But their existence is quick and easy to prove. They just have to physically touch me. Actually, not even that as I can see them, hear them, and (in some cases) smell them. If I bump into one of the members of the crowd I can feel them. Hopefully I don't taste them, but if I was to lick a member of the crowd I could.Ok, try this one. You walk into a crowd of 1000 people, and tell them they don't really exist. You are the one making the wild claim. You have to prove your wild claim to the other 99% We don't have to prove anything to you. And way to go on ignoring the premise, and not answer the real issues.
I have seen many arguments for, and against, the Bible, Koran, and many other scriptures. Obviously, I have not been swayed.
You have come here saying your 'truth'. Again, you're more than welcome to do so. However, it's not very reasonable to assume people are doing to drop all they believe because the beliefs found in the Bible are different. I know what the Bible says. I also know that I do not believe the Bible, as I have no proof to do so. It is up to you to offer proof since you have come to make these claims, much more proof than what you have here. Remember, it is you attempting to convert me - not the other way around. I don't care what you believe, that's your business.
If you do not wish to offer proof or solid arguments, and have only come to state your 'truth' then you have done so, and this conversation is over since there is no where left for it to go.
