My van stopped running. I'm going to put some of the $1,200 toward getting it fixed. But if the bill repair quote is over $300 I'm going to end up scraping it or something else. I also have a small bank loan I'm going to pay off.

I just bough a new computer that needs to be paid for, so part of it will go there. Part will be put away for the kids, think new clothes, Christmas, birthdays, etc.. The rest I'll save.

Bills. I'm not working due to Covid-19.

I've withdrawn my 401k, which wasn't much, but it will also help for a little while. Applying for unemployment has been a disaster.

I've been looking for very low exposure risk jobs because I have a son with very poor respiratory health. Not bringing this nasty bug home to him is of the utmost importance. There's really not any jobs out there that don't involve exposure risks because all jobs are essential only. I was hoping to find a small office with limited traffic to work in. I haven't.

What use is $1200?

Why isn't the U.S. doing what other developed countries are doing and paying up to 80% of employees salaries so companies keep staff on and don't have to fire people?

$1200 is not even a month's salary for full-time work even at minimum wage, surely?

Actually, for me, it's about $400 more than I get per month net. That is making me 12.66 an hour as an EMT.

I understand your point, and I do believe the government should be doing more for us. However, I'm also thankful that we are getting that much.

1200.00 is almost enough to cover a whole month of bills for me. I live inexpensively and keep my bills relatively low because I grew up poor and have almost always struggled financially.

So, no, it's not enough. But it definitely helps and is much better than getting nothing. I'm hoping they will do more, or at least unclog the unemployment process. But mostly, I'm trusting that God will provide in some way, and thankful to Him for every bit of relief that we get.

Looks like I am going to need a new cell phone as well. Mine is not holding a charge very well, I am missing calls or when they connect the i cannot hear them or they cannot hear me.

So, found a decent phone for under $500 through my carrier. It has all the features of a flagship phone without the price tag. Helps that it's almost a year old too.
