  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Today was beautiful - gorgeous day outside.

Lazed around for most of the morning. Ended up going shopping with B for groceries - and bought so much yummy stuff. Went back to his place to unpack, and then arranged a picnic to a place up in the mountains behind his house.

Beautiful down there. Except for the birds who were quite aggressively after our food.

Watching the FA Cup at the moment - pretty exciting!

had church this morning which was awesome

then installed a cd player in my mates girlfriends car.

then i went and played touch footy with some mates from church... and busted my finger.... the ball came down on the end of my finger and tore the flesh from the nail...... (i can get a photo if anyone wants to see it ) but its all good i scored a try nearly got a 2nd one but the grass started to get a slight dew on it and was really slippery, so when i went to sidestep another guy i slipped....

OW! Poor Rob - I hope you'll be ok, that must've hurt like something else. Pic unnecessary, but thanks anyway!

It's raining again for the fifth or sixth weekend in a row. I'm getting discouraged. An entire spring is passing me by with no chances to go hiking or any other outdoor weekend activity. So today will be art/music day. I'm working on a series of collages in my sketchbook.

Hope you all have a good one!

Well, I'm thankful for that, too, Rob! It would be hard to play the guitar - but just look at Phil Keaggy who is a phenomenal guitarist with some of his digits indisposed.

Anyway, thank the Lord you don't have to play with altered fingies. How is the church youth band coming along these days?

the youth band is going strong, still getting settled in to things.. we have a drummer who is only new to the drums *well hes been playing for a few months) so he goes out of time sometimes.. but its not big deal, we manage to compensate for it we are having a great time doing it though

That's awesome! I understand about the drumming thing. We've got an amazing drummer who is our regular, but two others fill in sometimes and they both aren't as good so we have to pay close attention and compensate as much as possible. It's hard for me as the percussionist because I have to depend so much on the drums to keep it steady while I play around, and these two can throw me off if I'm not carefully paying attention.

I'm back on the team again after a hiatus - it feels good to be playing but it's a lot of work, too. I miss most of the Wed pm rehearsals because I get in from work so late, and then have to figure everything out on Sunday morning before we play. Oh well - I'm learning how to wing it very very well!

I've got to get going. I'm in the mood to make some art - might as well since it's raining like crazy out there. I just got a new cd by a group called Paris Combo - they're French and absolutely wonderful. I can't understand much of what the singer says, but it all sounds so good that I don't mind at all! It's been great chatting with you again - it's been so long. Hope you have a great night.

Ow, ow...and ow!!!! I've had many a twisted and jarred finger from ball games, but never one where the nail separated from the flesh...

Tonight, to continue on the music theme, I had a guitar string break during the first song of my church's service. Since I had no spare strings, I had to jump on the piano (not literally, of course ) and play the rest of the songs on that. But it wnt well, despite the fact that we had a new song on the roster that I had never played on the piano...

hehe... when one of our drummers first started playing, we used to just keep playing even though he'd get out.. made it hard for us... but just because omeone is learning the instrument doesnt mean you completely stop playing for them...

I had a fairly interesting weekend... I decided to catch the train to my boyfriends place yesterday rather than drive... (because logistically it was easier for my plans today to do so)... I havent caught th train to his place before.. but it should take about 90 minutes, including an interchange of lines in the city... so I caught the train, got off to change lines and discovered there was track work.. so i had to catch a train, a buis, and then another train to get where i was going after the interchange, and ended up taking me 3 hours but, he drove me to where the trains were working from this morning, so that i wouldnt be late for the "hens day" that I went to at Luna Park today. That was fun

I'm worn out.

Stupid me decided to stay up and watch soccer - had to go way over time (and the wrong team win), didn't it!!! So, got to bed at 4am.

Kicked outta bed at 8:30 for church (not a happy camper). Went to church, and then caught a ride with my parents to the coast. Saw Grandma in hospital (not looking good at all - mum very upset when we left), and then went to Wappa Dam.

It was my Aunt's Surprise 60th, so we had a lovely 'cocktail style' afternoon tea with her and the rest of the family (I was the only niece/nephew generation there).

My parents dropped me off at church, so had a double dose of church, and a great time talking to S_E...
