  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What are you all doing for Holy Week?

For many years I did not think Palm Sunday was very important. It is just about Jesus riding to Jerusalem on a young donkey, right? That was before I became a Christian, of course.

Now, in the year that began with a Bible search, I feel like I need to do something all 7 days of Holy Week, not just say, "Happy Easter," and eat chocolate bunnies like I have in the past. This year, I want all of my fellow Christians to remember the whole Passion Week story, from Christ riding into Jerusalem to The Last Supper to his arrest, not just the Crucifixion and Resurrection alone as we usually do. Remember the six trials. Remember his dead body being carried to the grave. Remember all of it. Do so while eating bread, not chocolate.

How will you celebrate the Holy Week to remember all these events, not just the death and resurrection of King Jesus the Redeemer and Savior?

Can you see the words "He is Risen" in my avatar? Next year I will look for a better picture for Holy Week that emphasizes the meaning of both the Crucifixion and Resurrection.

Now I think this is the best time to finally order a new study Bible. No week would make more sense.

I haven't eaten a chocolate egg or bunny at Easter since I was child (I'm in my mid-fifties now). But, you know, God calls me to live every day in a holy way, centered upon Christ, his bond-servant and disciple, giving him glory in all I do. In fact, if I don't, the writer of Hebrews tells me I won't be able to "see God." (Hebrews 12:14) So, I don't get all in a flap about "Holy Week" as though one week out of the year ought to be especially holy. Every day ought to be holy, lived for my holy God to His glory. (1 Corinthians 10:31) Fortunately, living this way and eating chocolate aren't mutually-exclusive things.
