All these sets of Sabbath alignments occur at the end of the six thousand years, what is God trying to tell us about this amazing phenomenon?? (See the Jubilee calendar on the last page of this study.)
3. The 7th-day Sabbath was calculated entirely by the sun, each day being measured from sunset to sunset.
That's the concept of how to calculate the Sabbath within the Gregorian Planetary week...
...This however does not compute at all when 31 A.D. is factored in.
The 2300 day prophecy ( key SDA doctrine ) requires that Jesus died at Passover in 31 A.D....
...There was NOT a Friday, Saturday, Sunday combination on the Passover in 31 A.D. - using our current Gregorian calendar.
William Miller's prophetic schema required that Jesus HAD TO DIE in 31 A.D....
....William Miller realized that he could not justify his interpretation of Daniel and other books using the Gregorian calendar.
This is why William Miller opted to use an alien Karite Jewish Calendar....
...A calendar rejected by the Karite Jews of Miller's own time ( and long prior ).
It's a given that Jesus died the day prior to the Jewish seventh day sabbath...
...It's a given that Jesus was in the tomb sabbath and rose from the dead on the 1st day.
These times sync with our Gregorian Friday, Saturday & Sunday but there was a big problem for Miller...
...Passover is directly tied to a major lunar phase ( i.e. the passover Moon ).
There was not a Gregorian Friday, Saturday, Sunday combination on ANY possible passover month in 31 A.D...
...So Miller had to use a calendar that would produce a 6th day cross, 7th day Sabbath in 31 A.D. - provided the right calendar was used.
This is well known and I thought martinman was getting ready to use the "lunar sabbath arguments" but he is on to something else I see.
It's still an interesting paradox and I see that there is a mass of SDA's who have adopted the Lunar Sabbaths while retaining Ellen White. Some of these groups offer big money to prove they are wrong.
One things for certain, if Jesus died at Passover in 31 A.D. and He died the day prior to the seventh day sabbath....
....Saturday is NOT the same sabbath.
Hey, and a big congrats to T&O for making it.......
...Let's just hope I don't end up on her table at the hospital.
The Bible says that the Messiah died on the preparation day, the day prior to the 7th-day Sabbath, and also, the day before the lunar "shadow" Sabbath (the "shadow" Sabbaths listed in Colossians 2:16,17). You might see a paradox if you don't understand the difference between, as well as, the principles used in determining the feast day schedule in the two Hebrew calendars, Hillel I and Hillel II. The Hillel I calendar was used until the middle of the 4th century C.E. Therefore, it was the calendar in use during the time that the Messiah was on earth.
Martinman said:In using the principles for determining the feast day schedule under the Hillel I calendar, in 31 C.E., we find that the first sliver of the new moon would have been visible Friday evening on the 13th of April (Gregorian calendar) at the beginning of the 7th-day Sabbath.
Martinman said:That would have been the first day of the first month of the year, making April 14 (Gregorian calendar) a 7th-day Sabbath. And the Passover occurred on the 14th day of this first month(Hillel I calendar) which was on Friday, the 27th of April (Gregorian calendar).
Martinman said:Since the Hebrews counted the day beginning in the evening, the night before, the day actually began in the evening on Thursday, the 26th of April (Gregorian calendar) in 31 C.E. The "shadow" Sabbath began on the preparation day in the evening of the 27th of April (Gregorian calendar) making the 28th of April, the "shadow" Sabbath. Of course, that particular year, the 28th of April was also, a 7th-day Sabbath. Again, the day begins the night before at sunset.
Martinman said:In the Hillel I calendar, as in the Hillel II calendar, the first visible sliver is often used to determine the first day of the month, however, occasionally, the new moon near the point of conjunction is used for this purpose, and the moon is not visible at that point. This would be the case when the "shadow" Sabbath and its anti-type, the 7th-day Sabbath, could fall on the exact same day, such as, at the new moon of the seventh month or when the tenth day of the seventh month, also a "shadow" Sabbath, could fall on the 7th-day Sabbath, again, the type occurring on the anti-type.
Martinman said:William Miller used the ancient Karaite calendar which was the Hillel I calendar, the same calendar in use until the middle of the 4th century C.E. It calculated the year to begin with the first new moon after the spring equinox rather than the new moon nearest the spring equinox, which is the difference between Hillel I and Hillel II. This was necessary, in order to observe the Biblical requirement of using ripe barley in the Wave Sheaf offering.
Martinman said:William Miller observed Sunday and he had no concern over the "shadow" Sabbaths or the 7th-day Sabbath at that time. His use of the ancient calendar would never have fixed Passover to always fall on the preparation day, the 6th day of the week, Friday,--as this calendar was a lunar-based calendar, and therefore, caused Passover to fall on a different day of the week each year. But the day following Passover was specified to always be a lunar "shadow" Sabbath, even though it moved to a different day of the week each year.
You just said the two ( 7th day sabbath & shadow sabbath ) were synonymous...
...The Bible certainly does say the Messiah died on the day prior to the sabbath - how can that square as happening in 31 A.D.?
Hillel 1 did not initiate ANY calendation, where did you get that idea from?
...Did you mean Hillel "II" - because if you did that's off as well.
Yes, if it (1st sighted cresent after conjunction ) "would have been" observed on the 13th...
....It wasn't.
April 10 was the astronomical new moon and @ 9:45pm on April 11 illumination was at + 3%...
...On 13 April 31 A.D. the illumination was +11%.
...People in Jerusalem routinely witness the new crescent with the naked eye @ 1 to 2 % illumination.
...And that's via a modern city - with bright light.
What Jewish source do you cite for shaddow sabbath?
...And that if it was real that it could share the same time as the 7th day one?
The Calendar Hillel the Elder would have used is identical to the predicted Hillel II's calculated calendar...
...Eye witness testimony as to the crescent was ONLY to double check the already existing math. It's not like Hillel created the math.
Yes, Miller didn't think anything of the sabbath - which is why he moved it by appealing to an alien calendar...
...The Jews of his day thought it odd as did the Karite Jews.
PERFECT ALIGNMENTS ONLY IN OUR TIME
These two areas of time would be 1888-1889, and 1986-1987, (however, according to (Hebcal HII) the perpetual Hebrew calendar, there are four perfect sets of Sabbath alignments, ALL in our day; and then after these, no more alignments even if one looks 1000 years farther into the future.) All these sets of Sabbath alignments occur at the end of the six thousand years, What is God trying to tell us in this amazing phenomenon??
When are the other two??
