John 21:25 - Acts 1:1
25 And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen. KJV

John 14:12
12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. KJV

Any ideas on what these greater works might be?

Are these some of the manifestations that some are clammering for a bible reference?

Gold dust, for example?

I am ready to duck.

Hi Hal:
"The Greater Works than these", is of a quantitative form, (greater in extent), not a quality form (new or better).

Greater NT:3185 meizon (mide'-zon); neuter of NT:3187; in greater degree: the more.

This phrase refers back to the statement Jesus made of "the Works I do". Greater in extent, Not some new Work.

I may have to duck with you, hope not.

That makes a lot of sense Stumpsitting101 (tangent What a great handle! /tangent). Otherwise the statement would have been in error as it is logically impossible for Jesus to be the One Perfect Sacrifice for all sins and for any of us to do greater!

With millions of us little Christians running round it is perfectly possible to go a greater number of things!

Hi Midge:
Your Quote: "Otherwise the statement would have been in error as it is logically impossible for Jesus to be the One Perfect Sacrifice for all sins and for any of us to do greater!"
Thank you for expanding my understanding on this topic. I had never thought along this line before. It just goes to show, that we truly need each other.
Thanks again.

Thanks for your responses. I submit that the greater works referred to signs and wonders that he had performed, not something in addition to His sacrifice on the cross.
I also submit they are both quanitive and qualitative.

I guess I am just trying to rebut the arguements that such things as divine dental work and the appearance of "gold dust" are not genuine manifestaions of the work of the Holy Spirit.
Is there any scriptural evidence to refute this supposition?
