What are the Earthly Advantages of Being a Christian ?

Let's not forget that our bodies are not saved, they are still apart of this corrupt world. Due to this fact we will ALL experience pain, suffering, sickness, destruction and even death. Being a christian will not exempt you from the troubles of living in this fallen world. But Glory to God, we will recieve glorified bodies and the world will one day be restored. Quote

If God didn't care about our well being in this life as you say above, why did Jesus go about doing good on the earth and relieving pain and sickness, and saying He was doing the will of the Father ?

Who was being addresed in the aforementioned scriptures? ALL believers or just the apostles.

If you know anyone doing such things please give me there contact info. I know many people who need to be healed and many who died of un-natural causes.

You raise the dead, Franky? Christians I know do what Jesus said. We do all of those (except the raising of the dead one,but who knows, someday )

Jesus was speaking to all of us who believe in Him, look at Mark 16:17,18

Where did I say God doesn't care? Please do not put words into my mouth.

The Lord says "IN THE WORLD YE SHALL HAVE TRIBULATION"

Do you not understand that we live in a corrupt world? Nowhere in scripture does it say that believers will be exempt from the troubles of life. This is a false doctrine of men not of God.

I'd love to "live happily ever" after for the mere fact that I'm a christian but its just not reality. I look forward to the future promise of heaven not living in a fallen world in a sick and dying body. Yes, I said dying, every second that passes is a sec gone from my life. It is only a matter of time before I run out of time. Thank GOd for salvation!!!

Its saying we do not live in luxury because we do not understand what we have in God. Well, maybe some of these megabillionaire WOFers in this forum can enlighten us. I imagine I am as financially well-off as any WOFer in this forum and I dont give a twit about material things. Having food and raiment I am content. What I am rich in Christ, not stuff.

I have a hunch that says you don't anyone performing such miracles, and neither does anyone else on this board. If it were so there would be no controversy on this.

Keeping the above in mind, read all that Jesus did in His three year ministry. And then read what He accomplished by taking All our sicknesses and sins in His sacrifice as the Lamb of god.

Exactly true, the church today is missing what Jesus said for us to do.

Preachers are preaching coping messages, how to get through the week, instead of teaching what Jesus taught, ie, what He taught the disciples.

I disagree, there are many preaching on healing, exorcisms and the authority of the believer. But very, very few doing such things..................

2,000 years later.

God's grace is more than sufficient in my life that I am to fix my eyes on Jesus who is my author and perfecter of my faith (Hebrews 12:2). My faith is IN JESUS, so faithful that HE has something better for me than what I have asked. (John 11:1-6; Luke 5:1-16; Luke 8:40-56).

You are absolutely right that it is dicided into spiritual amndphusical and in every case I can think of with spiritual principles there is also a physical principle as well, the svriptures usually have more than one layer, more than one depth, and definitely layer upon layer

A) Jesus was just pulling our chains (lying)

B) Jesus was talking about heaven when he says "abundant life."

As soon as the person with the will dies. Jesus died on the cross and rose again two thousand and seven years ago. The bible was closed and cannonized over 1500yrs ago.

So now you're suggesting that the scripture will not work because "we don't have full awareness." Did Lazarus have full awareness while he was dead and rotting? No, but he was still raised from the dead. John 10:10 had no conditional statement on it.

"I am come that they might have life and have it more abundantly, but only if they realize who they are and have enough faith"

So that brings me back to the pt. Was Jesus lying or was he misuderstood? There is no other option.... option C does not exist. The word of God is eternally true, it doesn't turn on and off.

Jim, you can find out, Jesus did, if what you say is true and i have no reason to doubt that it is did not Jesus tell the rich young ruler that to follow Him he must give away all he has to the poor and did not that same young man hang his head and leave. There are many on here who are in the state you say and many that are worthy of generousity so if you have an abundance are you willing? Noone is saying that you will be rich it is accepting what God has for you I havve very little in material things and money but yet I am rich. It is a firm belief that God will see me through every trial I face and my faith is in God and not in man or material things, or anything else you can think of. We are warriors and as such we are to be fighting a war but what I see is the church getting beat senseless in most cases so where is your faith Jim are you willing to give your excess away?

true for the apostles? yes, wether this command was meant for every believer is up for debate.

I find no scriptural record of anyone doing such things other than the apostles and those touched by them.

If it was meant for us, I'd say the churh has serious problems!!

The Lord is fully capable of communicating with us. He is not an ant with a tiny voice that is very hard to hear. The Lord spoke through audible voices, burning bushes, angels and other means. I seriously doubt that the church has "miss the voice of the spirit" for over 2000yrs.

Who wouldn't want to heal the sick, cast out demons and raise the death. This would save us a great deal of heartache in our lives. Again, I don't think that %99.9 of the church is in direct defiance of the word. We simply don't do this because we can't not because we won't.

"lack of understanding jewish things"
This is not a requirement of gentile believers. Paul preached against this. I can eat pork, go uncircumsised and still be in right standing with God because of the Blood of Jesus, not Jewish customs/things.

these are just more excuses to deny reality. The reality is very few experience "abundant life" here on the planet and very few perform miraculous signs and wonders.

Either Jesus was talking about heaven or he wasn't there is no in between because of this or that reason. Do not add to the word, John 10:10 has absolutely no conditional statements attached to it.

I have come that they might have life and that they might have it more abundantly if.................
