I want to start listening to different styles of music. Dubstep sounds like a cool genre in my opinion, but I really don't know where to start. Can you recommend some good dubstep bands and songs for me to listen to?

Dubstep is a weird little genre to get into because a lot of the dubstep artists aren't officially signed, so digging up albums can be a bit tricky.

The first step is obviously Skrillex. By far the most popular dubstep artist. You can pick up his albums pretty much anywhere.

After that your best bet is to just start following some dubstep-specific blogs and websites. For example, a quick Google search led me to dubstep.net and dailydoseofbass.com

Another decent option is to go to bandcamp.com and search dubstep and start sampling what comes up. Bandcamp is a website that independent artists use to distribute their music. The artists decide the price to charge, so some of it will be free, some of it will cost a couple of bucks, and some will be typical album pricing. But you can typically stream the whole thing to see if it's something you want to download. The quality will vary wildly, of course, but c'est la vie.

Furthermore, go to U-Tube type dubstep and that will do it. Music, dance and groups. From what I have perused there are publishing houses such as shrillex or something like that that compile various bands and at times remix the music. However, bands are there too... Have fun !!!!
