My church believes in the real presence of Jesus with the elements of the Lord's supper as is plainly stated in the Bible, and Adventists presume it is just a symbol.
Matt. 26
26While they were eating, Jesus took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying, "Take and eat; this is my body." 27Then he took the cup, gave thanks and offered it to them, saying, "Drink from it, all of you. 28This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins
John 6:
55For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink.
1 Cor. 11
27Therefore, whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of sinning against the body and blood of the Lord. 28A man ought to examine himself before he eats of the bread and drinks of the cup. 29For anyone who eats and drinks without recognizing the body of the Lord eats and drinks judgment on himself.
I really didn't want to go here. Don't you believe me that virtually all denominations believe they are following the Bible as close as possible? I guess you asked for it.
For one, there are about 6 places in the new testament that says the clean/unclean food laws are done away with, and Adventiists choose to ignore or try to explain them away.
I think that the "last supper" was indeed just a symbol of Jesus giving his life for sin. I think all churches have taken that and made it into something of a tradition. The Bible never actually instructs us to reenact that event in any way.
Looks like you would have hated being an Israelite. Or a gentile post Crucifixion for that matter.Adventist will not contradict any of Mrs. White's doctrinal statements. I have a real problem with a church who thinks they have a special messager from God who is their interpreter of Scripture.
They are quite law oriented, -snip-.

And here I was thinking we were bible oriented...go figure.[]
I would agree with this about the unclean food laws, and worth noting that even when they were in effect, it was only applicable to Jews.
The clean and unclean animal distinction before the flood must have been of ceremonial nature for sacrifices, as animal were not given for food for people until after the flood. It is then said that all animals shall be food for us. I will quote the Scripture if you want me to.Why were they only applicable to the Jews when God had classified clean and unclean animals in the time of the flood even before Abraham was born?

So God done even want them for sacrifice but we can eat them? Even science have proven that they are not good to eat.
Ias. 66:17 They that sanctify themselves, and purify themselves in the gardens behind one [tree] in the midst, eating swine's flesh, and the abomination, and the mouse, shall be consumed together, saith the LORD
Why don't you eat dogs and rats and roaches and lice?

I came to Seventh Day Adventism without Ellen White and will remain one with or without her. The doctrine of the SDA are not dependent on her but on God's word.
It depends on which SDA church you are attending. I went to one where they didn't open up the Bible once but preached from her books.
