Age? I started playing in secular bands when I was 18 back in 1956. I am 68 now and my wife and I play our guitars in church. I play slide electric guitar and my wife plays bass. I sing too so any age I think works. I have playede in many bands in my life from 2 piece to 7 piece groups. Worship music is best though, of all kinds.
Blessings on you.
Paul :)

Dude,
i started playin in bands when i was 13 so y not 10, at 15 i started to progress and go somewher but then it crashed and i was bck to square 1, im not that old either and am in another one. lol. go for it butalways remember it should always be about havin a good time and should be about god, never let popularity be an issue and make sure everyone's voice is heard in the band not just 1 person or leader keep it equal.

Yiow, 10 years old and I could barely play my right hand with my left hand. I wasn't in my first band until I was 17 I think. Well, if you count a few keyboard spots in the church orchestra, maybe 15. Y'all must be talented!

I also remember that episode of the Wonder Years where Kevin has this totally tubular friend who knows about 3 chords and wants to start a band. They really end up making noise but are invited to play for a birthday party gigue. The totally tubular guitar player freezes up, but they finally start playing. Yes, making noise, but are cut short by the police for disturbing the peace. The kids at the party just yell "let them play" no matter how good or bad they are. Maybe just for the fun of playing, the more you do, the better you will enjoy your ability and have a chance to express it in new and different ways. I'd say go for it.

Blessings

This day and age is the best age to start a band.lol

Just kidding I believe ASAP is the time to start a band.

I was playing my guitar and singing and my two nieces wanted to play. Since I had two guitars I let each one play a guitar. And I sang and used a percussion instrument.

It took us a while but we actually sounded like we were getting somewhere. There was a rock sound developing. If we would have practiced and put in some hard work we may have had something. I think it was because they were young and had lots of desire and faith in themselves.

So get those kids some instruments.
