We are the Bereans class, meaning we men adhere to the attitude of the Bereans in Acts 17, committing ourselves to "searching the scriptures daily." Today our class was slightly disrupted as the teachers for another class were out on various calls of service so our teacher was asked to fill in. He would never turn down a call to help another class and we students in the class just pick up, move over to the classroom with him and pace ourselves to whatever that class is studying.
I have sat in this mans class for 5 years. Our leader is not slow. He is methodical so you have to pace yourself when he teaches. A new lady appeared in the class and half way through she had not only challenged the teacher 4-5 times, she finally said, I think you are the devils spawn. You don't teach Gods word correctly. I can't listen to you. And she got up and huffed out of the room.
I just want new Christians to be aware that you will meet all kinds of people in church. We are humans. We didn't speak ill against this woman we prayed for her. We even prayed that if anything had been said incorrectly to ask the Lord to help him and help us correct it. But that lesson which he was teaching was directly out of the bible and had the woman waited rather than huffed off she would have been given, "The Rest of The Story." The class he was teaching was the "Once saved - Always saved" position and that was the other part to trigger her being upset. Please, if you are a new Christian don't jump up in the middle of a class or sermon and challenge the teacher and storm out. Have some dignity and reserve some manners. If you don't agree, then certainly ask some questions but don't argue with the teacher to the point you look exactly what you are. A distraction from the lesson. Listen to the end and if you are still not in agreement you can find another church or another class that is more to your liking. We have time and if not, the Lord understands better than you might think. New Christians, be respectful of those who come before you. We also understand that you are trying to absorb thousands of years of God condensed down to one little book.
