• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

We're Finally doing the Truth Project!!

My small group has been working through the Truth Project, and I have to say it is FANTASTIC! I highly recommend it. Del Tackett is a truly gifted teacher. And the whole program does a wonderful job of getting you out of your comfort zone and really thinking about the big issues.

I mistakenly posted some months ago that MacArthur is involved with it, but that does not appear to be the case. Zacharias and Sproul do offer wonderful insights throughout it, however.

Anyway, I just thought I'd let you all know in case anyone is looking for a good small group tool.

Well here's a link to the website:
The Truth Project

And here's the intro trailer:
YouTube - The Truth Project :: Long Promo

There are 13 segments, called "tours". They're officially listed as 12, but the science tour is actually two parts. Each is about 1 hour long. There are resources and questions you print off the website for small group discussion after each tour. They tackle issues such as history, science, theology, government, philosophy, etc.

Joh 14:6 Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

This looks really exciting Des...thanks for sharing it...I've saved it to favs and I will certainly take a deeper look!

It's really been on my heart lately...especially as we see events against Christianity exponentially increasing...

...that truth is becoming more more ill received....on so many levels it's absolutely mind-blowing.

It seems the more Scripture one presents...the more insulted many are by it.

And I know it's not "my" truth that's offensive...But God's truth.

If what I've seen throughout these forums...from people who profess Christianity is indicative of the whole...OH MY!

Unfortunately, since very few people have the guts to blame or attack God directly, they take it out on us Christians.

So true. We are His ambassadors. And we are called to suffer for Him.

Actually that verse is discussed at length in the very first "tour".

Throughout the series they show interviews with a range of people (some are shown in the trailer above) from various walks of life. There's a Unitarian, several people with varying church backgrounds, a homeless woman, Atheists, Gnostics, etc. Very interesting stuff. The Unitarian woman is very articulate and confident in what she says, and wow does she ever represent so much of what the world believes. Turns my stomach to listen to her at times. There's a tattoo artist, and as you get to "know" him better through the series, your heart can't help but break for the pain he's in. He's angry and rebellious, but also deeply broken. And there's a boy, thirteen years old, I think. That kid is really something! He says a lot of reall solid, profound things.

What I really enjoy most about this series is that it gets your head out of worldly concepts, and focused on the big picture of God's soverignty and His plans for this world. And yes, even as Christians and as conservatives we're all at risk for falling into certain worldly outlooks on things. There is of course discussion on why the truth offends the world (namely because it forces people to look upon the face of God, which sheds light on their sinful natures). But mostly it's a focus on why the truth is The Truth.

Wow...I can't wait to delve deeper into this...

yep...sheds light...

Joh 3:19 And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
Joh 3:20 For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed.
Joh 3:21 But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God."

Our church is starting the Truth Project and I'm excited. Sometimes I think the world is going crazy, epecially christians with these wild beliefs.....it's scary.

Cool! I'd love to know what you think of each tour as you work through them.

Ha, again, all those verses are mentioned as well! :D
