Went to a Charismatic mass and something interesting happened.

So, I went to a Charismatic mass friday night and I skeptical about it because well they were just normal people who were doing it. Anyways, as they were praying over me this INTENSE pain started in my wrist..like right where your pulse is in both arms and went up my arms and into my chest. It stopped in my chest cavity and was like in my bones and my heart was pounding. The pain was so horrible and terrible and it hurt so bad, there was no comfort in this and it freaked me out. I'm just wondering what does this mean? Everyone was saying I should of felt calm and welcomed but I didn't...It just hurt and when I got up from off the ground my legs were shaking and ugh is there something wrong with me?

Yes I have that and it sucks, I hope it was just due to stress that pain. I've been stressing the pass 4 months since my HOCD kicked in. I hate having Pure O sometimes because I can't stop thinking bad things and that's one of them.

I just turned 22 and was just diagnosed with Pure O OCD. I've had it my whole life..well it started out as regular OCD and turned into Pure O. Pure O is when it's purely mentally like our OCD takes our worse fears and tries to tell us different and make us think it's true when it isn't. And with these thoughts we get anxiety say mental rituals. Like when my HOCD hit I kept saying "I love *insert my boyfriend's full name*" to calm me down from the anxiety...I still do it. People with OCD say they can over come it..but it always comes back. Something will always trigger a spike (obsession) and everything will be back to running around in circles. People with Pure O can't take jokes either...we take things literally 99.9% of the time and can't help it =/ I just can't wait for God to say okay enough is enough and make me back to normal because this feels like a devil in my head playing a tennis match with my heart and what I know is true.

It means that what you were experiencing probably was DEMONIC in nature, and not a "ministry of the Holy Spirit at all". You make no mention of any resultant practical ministry, no "Spiritual growth" and only experienced pain and fear.

God is NOT a God of confusion (which is obviously all you got out of it).

There's something else working there.

I think we should be careful about who we let pray over us.. was it a priest who was praying over you or a lay person? I personally believe that Eucharistic Adoration, receiving a blessing from a priest, etc, could be beneficial and bring peace as for being prayed over, I think often it depends on who is doing it.. and if they aren't doing it right, the devil could get involved too.

I think it might be best for you to just forget about this experience and not focus on it

Just because I haven't seen anybody recommend this yet in the thread, why not go to the doctor and make sure it is not something health related?

Too many people seem to jump on the wagon that it MUST be something spiritual--- trust me I know the physical feeling of the Holy Spirit in me so I get it, but if your body is in pain you REALLY REALLY should go to a doctor and make sure everything is okay. Until you're told that everything is okay, I would stick to thinking it might be health related over spiritual.

Have you gone to the same type of Mass since?

Bit of a thread necro but you really, really, really need to go see a doctor. That sounds like a heart problem or a blood clot of some sort.

If your GP doesn't refer you, go see probably a cardiologist or a neurologist.

I am going to jump in here and share something with you that is totally contrary to what you are hearing.
This is exactly what happened to me when I received my gift of healing. Actually it happened when I was praying over folks. As I layed hands on a guy, I got the very same things you did. Exteme pain in my ches and couldn't breath. The man was suffering from serious heart problems. During the early times of my healing ministry and when receiving the Gift of the Word of Knowledge, I felt and experienced the pain others were feeling.
It took a period of time, sitting under others with teaching and discernmemt ministry for me to learn to deal with these symptoms and let them go to get deeply into my healing gift.
Please do not feel discouraged. Find a (mentor) teacher or director to lead you through this and into your gifts. This is not a negative sign but a Blessed one. I know it can be scarey and confusing to begin with but do not allow the enemy to steal your joy.
I believe you are seeing a true gift of the Holy Spirit. Be open and move into it.
