CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

he is kind of funny but.... you should try ApologetiX.... they are the christian werid Al..... they do paradies of secular songs like werid all... but they make them christian.. and some of them are really funny...

Weird Al has some awesome songs. 
He also has a few that aren't so awesome...
I'd tend to say that most of his stuff it fine to listen to for entertainment. Some of it I'd stay away from though.

You are so on the money as far as the ApologetiX go. Not only do I have ALL of their CD's (except for their upcoming one) but I have met them in person toowildretrak said:
They are the most awesome group of guys you'd ever meet or hear. They have THE best parodies I think. The song I wrote to "Lose Yourself" was actually inspired by them. The lyric writer/lead singer has some great and amazing ideas and ways that they put their music out so it works with Christianity. Anybody who hasn't heard of them or wants to know more about them can feel free to let me know in one way or another.

Weird Al is quite another story as far as songs go. I would say that for the most part he is safe, but my main thing is to watch out for what the lyrics have to say. If they don't match up with your beliefs then you shouldn't either listen to the song or him in general. That's how it is with me and music of every kind.

well lets look into this statement. ive just got into some of the new Aplogetix stuff and well they are geniuses, the lyrics they put together and all the musci that they re-make is incredible. How about there Eminim parodies..i don't see weird al playing any of that, the Aplogetix are much more flexable in there music style, they can play a whole lot more styles than weird al. so now i would like you to take a look at your stantement, chek out some Apologetix and let me know why they suck, last time i checked it takes skill to to what they do..especialy with what they ahve to work with.

I think that this is one of those "is it all bad or is it just not me" things. I mean that for some people Weird Al is awesome and hilarious, no harm done, I am one of those people but for others he might be the worst influence on anyone. It depends on who you are kinda in my opinion, like with secular music in general, if you are listening to rap that directly slams God or tells you to sin then it is bad and under NO circumstances should be listened to but if it is just a song, like If Youre Not The One by Daniel Beddingfield and has no real sexual innuendos then it's okay as long as it is not going to steer you the wrong way.
I love Weird Al personally, I think his eBay song is awesome...Poodle Hat is his best cd but whatever.

The only reason that weird al is any good is because he is funny. aplogetix in my opinion at least isn't very funny at all, I mean if there gonna just copy other peoples music they need to atleast make it funny otherwise its just ****.......now we can go on like this forever or we can just grow up and agree to disagree.

so your saying if a band has a good message we should call them a great band regardless of their quality? in that case I could get a friend together play a kazoo and chant "God is good, he loves us" and record it all on a kiddie tape recorder, and you would be forced to consider it musical genious by your standard......sorry dude but it takes more than a good message to make a band good. any dude and his brother can make a good message.

I just found out about a month ago, about Apologetix. I would really like to listen to a sample of their music, but all that I have tried won't work (the links on their web site were a end) Any suggestions?
