THIS QUESTION IS OPEN TO ALL BAPTIST/ANABAPTISTS (EVEN RECENT WINNERS)!!!!!

The most common question we get is "What is a Baptist?" or a question worded differently that is essentially the same.

I am a Fundamental Dispensational Premillenial Baptist.

Here's the question.

What does that mean? (Fundamental Dispensational Premillenial Baptist).

Break it down and tell me what each point refers or pertains to. You don't have to define what Fundamentalism is, you have to tell me what that tells you about me or what that tells you my particular belief in a certain area is.

The Prize for this Bonus Question is 200 blessings to be awarded or divided.

Good luck!

Fundamental: Believe in the fundamentals of Christianity. Fundamentalist hold certain christian truths that are fundamental to good true christian faith. They do not use violence to solve their problems.

Dispensational: is a systematic theology that recognizes distinct “economies” in the outworking of God’s purposes on earth. That is, it recognizes that God relates to mankind in different ways at different times. It is grounded in the biblical truth that there are only three distinct groups of human beings on earth today—Jew, Gentile and the Church of God, a.k.a “the Body of Christ” or “Christians” (1 Cor. 10:32)—and recognizes God’s various ways of dealing with each.

Premillenial: Basically the theory of the end of the world. And about the " Second Comming" of Christ. Most of the left behind series is a good "illustration" or kind of explains whole dispensational premillenial part.

Baptist: Cherish the Lord's Supperand believes in the premillenial return of Christ. They also believe in the teachings of John the Baptist.

Well I hope thats a good enough explaination... umm yeah let me know if I'm right... lol ok well ttyl

Pretty close. You missed a bit on Fundamentalist and Baptist. But you might be the closest one.. these two are somewhat tricky... What do these two things refer to ... keep that in mind and you'll get it (or someone else will ;) )

Fundamentalist: Term coined for those who adhere to the volumes written in the early 20th century (1912?) in response to modernist and liberal theologians who were making headway in the church's pilpits and seminaries. The series was called "The Fundamentals".

The so-called "social gospel" as well as the growing acceptance of evolution and the allegorical interpretation of the scriptures inspired certain men to gather to draw distinctions.

Ok I admit it. This was a tricky question. It was hard to word the question. It was hard to answer the question. So here is the answer.

What I was looking for was what each point referred to...

I said, "I am a fundamental dispensational premillenial baptist"

So where is the breakdown on each point and what it refers to...

Fundamental - My belief in the Bible (that it is the inerrant, infallible Word of God).

Dispensational - My belief in interpretation (that we can see God's revelation as progressive. That God dealt with people in different ways at different times through history. That there were different "economies" down the ages. etc.)

Premillenial - My view of Eschatology (The end of all things) (that Christ will return to the earth with a shout, that the dead in Christ will rise first and we who remain will be caught up with them to meet Christ in the air. That this will happen before a period called 'The tribulation' and that after the tribulation Christ will set up His kingdom on the earth for a period of 1000 years, then comes the judgment).

Baptist - My application of my beliefs (this is how I live my life, according to the distinctives of the baptist church, which attempts to remain true to the Scriptures in all things).

So you see, these tags that I put on myself are not for the sake of looking smart, glorifying myself etc. These tags are a way for others to understand my beliefs, to know where I stand, and most importantly how I apply them to my life.

A tough question but some great (some funny) answers.

My advice is, don't get too worried about the titles and tags of the faith. Instead figure out what you believe and draw a line in the sand. But have your eraser handy. Be teachable and don't get hung up on the small stuff. We are all servants, there is only one God and one Lord of all. I pray that He will bless you as you continue to seek Him and to carry out His will!
