  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

It depends on a lot of things, and those prices they listed are all extremely high end.

$4,000 for a photographer? You could fly a small town photographer who has excellent work and prices to your city and pay for his hotel and package for less than half that.

It's all about doing your homework and not just going with the highest price company from the list. You can save yourself a lot of money and still get great quality.

I think the best thing to consider after you read that article is: WILL you be disciplined enough (and able to convince your parents that they do not will be shamed for all eternity of you don't have filet mignon) or to start saving.
I had savings set aside, not specifically for the wedding, but because I generally save. The idea of getting in debt for the wedding, to buy ANYTHING on credit didn't even appear in our minds.
I managed to have a wonderful wedding, rather cheaply, in six months preparation time. The food and reception were a gift from my mom, and I don't know exactly how much that was. She insisted on a caterer that I know was more expensive than the three I sugested, but that was her choice. *L* The rehearsal dinner was a gift from my in laws. All the rest, we payed for ourselves.

The thing is: you can have the wedding of your dreams, by being disciplined and daring to dream outside of the lines...

Well, I've started my piggy bank earlier this week!
I am going to send Andrew this article. We're considering May '08, that's what we would like.

I've always thought of having a potluck sort of meal to cut down on cost, I don't like the idea of having a supper at our expense for people we hardly know, kinda thing.

A friend of mine is getting married at 10:30 am and having a reception at 1:30 pm with treats... I think that's a pretty good idea.
