  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

As a new parent of a baby girl I found this story to be heart breaking:

http://www.nzherald.co.nz/storydisplay.cfm?thesection=news&thesubsection=&storyID=3591603

For those who can't be bothered to follow the link its about a man who has been charged with the murder of his 5 week old baby. It is alleged that after being told that her brain was no more developed than that of a 13 week feotus and that she had the worst possible survivable brain damage, he put his hand over her mouth and smothered her.

If you were on the jury at his trial, how would you vote? Guilty of murder? Man-slaughter? Not guilty?

Hung jury. Case dismissed. :sigh:

Man, I had to recompose myself after reading that. As a husband and father, I can really feel for this man. He must have been overcome by that news.

However, God must have had a purpose for this child surviving. Our struggles are about Him, not about us. We exist to glorify God - even in the hard times.

My vote would be man-slaughter, as hard as it sounds. Trust me, I want to vote not guilty, but he killed his child. Yes, she deserved a chance at life - even life as a disabled person. :sorry: :(

Why not murder? He was under duress at the time. He even tried to commit suicide.

I'll be praying for this family. :prayer:

First I think more thought has to go into the case. Sounds like the father snapped. Hate to use the word he did but might be a temporary insanity and drugs. Need more info before I might a rash dission.

On a side not I find it sad that you say the baby was born and it was Gods Will. But that the father killing the child was not. Why is it if something good happens God has something to do with it. If its bad why is it either Mans Will or Gods Divine Plan. Giving everything up to God is not the right way to do it.

I heard someone give a good example and reason for the way God works.

You don't understand why bad things happen to man when you believe theres a God. Do you let your child ride a bike? You know they will get hurt maybe even killed by a freak accident, but you still do. It happens. Thats what God does. Lets his children live there own lives. Learn there own lessons. Leave the world and his childern to there own fate. Don't worry, he still loves you.

And I'm an Agnostic and that is the BEST explaination of God I have ever heard.

I heard a couple on focus on the family speak of finding out that their daughter was born with only 1/2 a brain.
At the time of the program the daughter now an adult had graduated from college with honors.

The truth is we do not know the end of things , only God does.
As has already been noted, God works all things together for the good of those that love Him and are called according to His purposes.

What we humans see as tragedy is not tragic to God. Our life is less than a blink of the eye in eternity.

This father is guilty before God , but I hope there is some mercy for him .
