• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

We send ourselves to hell?

No, it is a matter of justice to those who do right or wrong in life. As Christians we put out trust in the Lord Jesus Christ to convict our flawed conscience in its sin to repent & strive to do what actually is right. We do not judge our neighbor who might be living according to the will of God (Romans 2:11-16, Matthew 7:1-12) who will judge everyone fairly (John 5:26-29).

So because the torturer is god he is never to blame? This sounds mighty illogical yet again.

Because I am human I believe that I should not be held accountable for my actions. I guess that makes it fair.

I do not know what the disconnect is but we can either be virtuous or non virtuous in behaving right or wrong. We have free will to do so making us acountable for our behavior. As Christians we believe that we fall short of this standard & that Christ's redemption makes it possble for us to be forgiven of our wrongdoing. This does not rule out that any given individual may be accounted righteous by God for having lived virtuously (as in the Beatitudes in Matthew 5:1-12). We do believe that all are in peril & hence the imperative to live & pray for, & or preach the Gospel to others.

I am replying to you since you have told someone, already inquiring with much skepticism, that Christians do not believe in the capacity for free will. You have basically said we believe in a "confused" God, that if we agreed with the skeptical inquirer who says that we believe in a "blameless torture" of a god our fragile & simplistic faith would implode.

Do not condescend that I am being "compulsive" or "naive"; I am sharply disageeing with your statements in honest discourse with no hostile intent.
