I have a poodle, Rufus, who is coming up on being 11 years old. We found out back in the fall that he has a heart murmur and recurrent congestive heart failure and has to be treated chronically. We noticed over the last couple of days that his breathing wasn't as good as it had been and his "arthritis" was getting worse as his little legs would just fold up under him sometimes when he is walking. I took him to the doctor and he is being treated again for fluid around his heart and lungs. When I told the vet about his "arthritis", he said that he didn't feel that he has arthritis but that he is just getting weaker, as a result from his heart. As I sit here this morning, with my baby curled up against me, my heart is breaking. He is there for me no matter what and loves me unconditionally, and the feeling is mutual. He doesn't seem like he is any pain at all, just moving a litttle slower; but seems to be his usual happy, prescious self. I just ask that you pray for Rufus and for me.

for Rufus this morning I ask that God allows you some extra time with him,and for comfort.This must be hard for you.Never easy to deal with when we watch our pets hurt,God willing that Rufus's pain is lessoned,for this my wife and I both pray.I am so sorry.

My prayers are with you and Rufus! I pray for the pain that you are going through and pray that Rufus will get better. I had my little dog Daisy for 15 years when she developed heart problems and we had to make the choice to put her to sleep. It was one of the hardest things I ever had to do. May God bless you for being such a wonderful person to care for your pets so much.

Animals are very loyal. As I once heard before, an animal will never betray you. Sometimes your animal can be your closest friend.

I know how it feels to see an animal suffer, I pray the Lord will give Rufus peace and comfort as He is through your hands of love, I also have been through this many time with a beloved friend and have learned to ask God to prepare my heart for the time when separation will come and God is faithful to do that for you, be at rest and know the Lord is the comfort of all the situations we go through.

I will pray for Rufus, and I hope most of all he is happy you seem to be a very caring owner and right now the best thing right now is to keep him happy!! He probably wants you to feel the same way, let him no how much you care (although I have a feeling that he already knows!!)

My old dog has the exact same problem, I've just been giving him extra effection. I forgot to mention that in my previous post. I know what you are going through, Mine is a thirteen year old cocker-spanniel/collie mix!
