  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

We need a new name.

Those of us who do not attend with a group of people in an organization for growth and worship need a new name.

We are not the "unchurched" as we are not the "un-called out ones". We of any are definately called out.

What could be our new name....maybe Moriah could come up with a new catchy name.

We have already been through this but we could come up with some different ideas .

My idea is "the unaffiliated" . Of course , "nondenominational" is a perfect fit . It fits us better than those who traditionally use the term . :)

I like the term 'unchurched' because for most of Chrsitians, church is a building, and yes I am proud to be unchurched.

When we started this forum a couple years ago, there was a lot of discussion about the name. There were several suggestions by home church/unchurched people, but they were overruled by people who attended church. I know, it seems strange that people who go to traditional church should have a say in the name of the forum for home churchers, but they way outnumbered us at that time.

I can't for the life of me remember what any of those names were, but "The Called Out" might be a good one.

"Unaffliated" does more accurately discribe the group, or "Undenominational." "Unnamed" would work for those who home church or church exclusively in small groups. Both are still forms of church, they just don't have an affliation or a denominational name.

Although I hardly post here, I would vote for Unaffliated/Unnamed.

"Free Indeed"

or

"Set Free"

John 8:36 Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.

Also there is a real freedom in Christ when you are not weighed down by the bureaucracy, politics and man-made rules, dogma and doctrine which consumes most churches.

Being free to focus on God and His word is very liberating.

:)

I do miss the support and fellowship of a church family though.

But I could only go to so many "5 songs and a sermon" services.

That could be a little misconscrued, maybe. We're already considered a little crazy for not going to church, but uninstitionalized implies that we should be instutionalized. :D
Or that eveyone else is!!! ;)

"Called out" might be accurate for the home churched, but not necessarily for the unchurched. I'm unchurched. Not because I've been called out, but because I'm fed up with what is on offer.

Admittedly, I don't post much, but I can't be the only one who isn't called out around here.

The greek word translated "church" in the scriptures is "ekklesia" which means "called out" ones.

So we could be the Called Out.
