  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

St. Athanasius Chapel and Reference Library

Right now is says:

A place for permanent threads.

... which is visible in the Congregation metaforum and does not let one browsing at that level know the purpose of the Chapel, nor that it is part of TAW.

ROTFL ! :D :D :D
I had braces for four long, tortuous years...I'm not going through it again! Even if my priest says I need Orthopraxis.... :p

Okay, I 've been thinking about this: How about this:

The House of Prayer for Eastern and Oriental Orthodox?

"house of prayer" might attract inquirers?

Dear Chris:

I thought Erwin was showing us that he had a sense of humor!

A place for permanent threads sounds like a Public Storage facility and not a chapel!

St. Athanasius Chapel is:

A place to grow in theosis, to become fully human, fully alive in Christ.

I like Eusebios' idea.

or

"Orthodox devotions and spiritual reading" ---pretty bland, but to the point.

St. Athanasius Chapel is:

1. A place for prayer, reflection and study of the Orthodox Christian faith.

2. A place to grow in theosis, to become fully human,* fully alive in Christ.

Can we come to an agreement here and then request Erwin to change the description of St. Athanasius Chapel to something more appropriate.

*(Our humanity is created in the image and likeness of God, so to be fully human is to image Christ in whose image we are created.)
