Anyone?

Thank you.
I would say not. Up until then son of God is a way of refering to Israel . What we see in Jesus is a whole heap of what until then appeared to be different threads and themes all coming together in one person in ways that were previously completely unexpected.

I have to agree with you.

Perhaps John 1 is Apostle John's own explanation of who Jesus is?

23 And these three men, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, fell down bound into the midst of the burning fiery furnace.
24 Then King Nebuchadnezzar was astonished; and he rose in haste and spoke, saying to his counselors, “Did we not cast three men bound into the midst of the fire?”
They answered and said to the king, “True, O king.”
25 “Look!” he answered, “I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire; and they are not hurt, and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.”
Daniel 3:23-25

Other translations says *sons of the gods"

Edit: I don't know if you mean "if the Word was said to be called Son" or if Jesus (who is the Word) was called "Son" before the incarnation". So, I just answered the latter. I'm sorry, I think I misunderstood the question.
