Hi shernren,

Did the Fall induce scientific changes in our world, or was it a purely spiritual happening? Your thoughts?

Well, before the Fall, there was no death. Adam and Eve would not have decayed like we do - we "fall apart" or are running down (as they should have due to the effects of the 2nd law of Thermodynamics); that said, the 2nd law of thermodynamics did exist before the Fall because without it, Adam would not have been able to digest a carrot, for example. Mutations started as a natural consequence of the 2nd law of thermodynamics when God released His sustaining power. I guess that some of the processes of decay that God was sustaining started to happen after the Fall of man.

God Bless,

Delta One.

Lastly, billwald:

The "Garden" scene described a mystical magical environment that did not conform to any physical reality we know. The Fall moved A&E to this physical universe.

There is no Biblical basis for this view what so ever. If they never had gravity, why did they not go flying off the surface of where ever they were?

In the beginning I think God held death at bay. He also apparently had made only herbivores as without death, there would be no predators. Disobeying God's command resulted in punishment/death. Whether or not this resulted in a scientific change to the planet is purely speculation as far as I know. I don't believe there is a Biblical (or other) account of any changes in the world or the atmosphere associated with the fall. I also know of no reason to assume that the Garden of Eden existed outside of our physical reality. Once death entered the scene, Adam and Eve were kicked out and over time the Garden likely perished as everything does.

No; it was purely spiritual.

Original sin isn't genetic; it doesn't pass from generation from generation in any way we can discern through scientific matters. It is a condition of the human soul, which has been broken due to Adam and Eve's disobediance.
