I don't think that after the Fall, Eden still existed as a place in the normal way.
I was thinking about that, but God placed angels to guard the entrance.

After he drove the man out, he placed on the east side of the Garden of Eden cherubim and a flaming sword flashing back and forth to guard the way to the tree of life.

But what does that mean, to place angels? It could mean a lot of things.

Was Eden destroyed during the flood?

Subscribing :liturgy:
"Physical" garden vs "spiritual" garden

NKJV) Joel 2:3 A fire devours before them, and behind them a flame burns;
The land [is] like the Garden of Eden before them, And behind them a desolate wilderness;
Surely nothing shall escape them.

NKJV) John 19:41 Now in the place where He was crucified there was a garden, and in the garden a new tomb in which no one had yet been laid.

1) Was Edin A Real Physical Place / Event, or a Parable told to teach us something
I believe it is real and as such it must be physical (but it does teach us something) ;).
2) Was the Flood Global or Local
IMO the scriptures say it is global. It is also interesting to note that just about every major civilization has had some version of the flood story.
3) Can God's Guardian Angels be moved by water?
umm...
What I was trying to imply, is that if Eden was gone then the angels would probably be allowed to leave. :sorry:

Water quenches fire [at least most times] :)

The Genesis Flood: Why the Bible Says It Must be Local

...........This paper has shown that the Bible declares the Genesis flood to be local in extent, though universal in its judgment of humans (with the exception of Noah and his family). The evidence presented here is purely biblical, although a strong case could also be given for extra-biblical reasons. ...........

2 Peter 3:5 For is oblivious to them this, ones willing, that heavens were of old, and land out of water and thru water having stood to the of the God word. 6 thru which the then world to water being deluged/flooded/kataklusqeiV <2626> (5685) perished
7 The yet now heavens and the land to same word having been stored to fire being kept into day of judging and of destruction of the godless men.

Luke 16:24 And he sounding said "Father Abraham! be thou merciful to-me! and send Lazarus! that he should be dipping the tip of the finger of him of water and should be cooling down the tongue of me.
That I am being pained in the flame this."

Ok.
but it was done to keep people out, right?

Sure. And we are out. But angels can deal with invisible realities as well as physical ones.

I believe it is real and as such it must be physical (but it does teach us something) ;).
:sorry:

Why does it have to be physical to be real. FWIW I think it was physical but I don't see the connection between physicality and reality. Angels are real and not physical, and God, who is the most real thing, is also not physical.

Eden was on earth and people are physical

Since Eden was on earth, and since people are physical and since Adam and Eve lived in Eden. I think it must be physical (agree?)
They also ate and wore animal skins when they left.

Are there legends of a flood from that time in any ancient texts or folklore in the southern hemisphere?
From what I remember even small local tribes have a version of the flood story.
I presume not every tribe everywhere (I don't know if the Native Americans had a flood story), but its a very common story.

Edit: Acording to wikipedia the Native Americans did have a flood story that they told the Europeans, but the Native Americans did not write it down. (+1 for Oral Tradition?)

Reason I asked, is there was localized flooding all around the world as the ice sheets retreated with the end of the last ice age..NA has the scab lands, for existence...decimating to the inhabitants, but not continent wide.

Any peoples that witness a catastrophic episode such as this will have a flood legend.

I think Eden (including the trees) was destroyed in the flood. The tree of life is now in heaven.

Rev. 22:1,2
And he showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding from the throne of God and of the Lamb. In the middle of its street, and on either side of the river, was the tree of life, which bore twelve fruits, each tree yielding its fruit every month. The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.

Yes, but I don't know how much it was really like the physical world as we see it now. When Paul talks about the new Earth after the Last Judgment, it seems like physical created matter will be a lot different. Was the pre-fall universe also so different?

So I am just not sure that we can really talk about the garden being physically present on Earth to us now. I would not be surprised if it is kind of like a hidden, more real dimension that we can't access. That it was present to us before the Fall, and will be after, but has no concrete reality for us now.

Where is Eden located? And the flood was on earth, right? Didn't Adam and Eve fall from Paradise? Where is Paradise? Is it on earth? Or is it somewhere else or just a state?
