Hey there,

just wondering if there are many 40k fans hanging around these boards (mods if you feel this would be better off in another board feel free to move it).

I've been out of playing for a good while now, though I've kept up-to-date with the web and White Dwarf. However, with the release of the Witch hunters I've been once more tempted back into collecting and have just purchased the codex.
If you're into 40k, post your armies and any other information you feel like sharing. Who knows, we may even be able to get a campaign organised!

Used to be into the minitures way back when.... well when I was your age lol.
I liked Warhammer 40K because of the lack of magic, and the ability to overcome those that DID use magic with nothing more than brute force or numbers.

I just had a Terminator Squad, 1 Rhino Tank, and 1 Wolf something or other squad (lol cant remember but they were hard core heavey weapons).

Always wanted to make a custom Chess Set with the minitures. Still think it would be cool, but I valued the bits I needed at around 200 UK pounds at the time. Not money I have to waste at the moment :( One day :)

I have a decent Ultramarines and Imperial Guard force, complete with several pieces of armor. Painting them was a lot of fun. I respect Gain$ Workshop's talent in figure sculpting but their pricing is rediculous. There are several companies out there that may not have the foothold that GW does, but their talent is as good or better. Many ex-GW sculptors are starting up their own businesses, too.

You've never known high pressure sales until you have stepped into a GW store, however....sheesh..back off, man - I am just looking. They follow you around and comment on every single item you pick up and look at.

I had around a 2000 point Blood Angels Army but I need cash and had to sell most if not all of it. But recently (now that I am in some what of a more stable finicial situation) I am starting to play again with my friend. I'm starting up a Necron Army its gonna be cool and a good army, I hope. :)

I've got a 2000+ force of my own made up chapter of space marines. I call them the Crescent Reapers and their colour scheme is of black armour with yellow shoulder trims and chest eagles. I also have modelled an angel to take on all the hordes of demons chaos has. It is the same hight as a demon, has two wings, a double-handed flaming sword and a look that would curdle shadows. I started on an accompanying force for him, but lost interest (all I wanted to make was the angel :D) And yes, the price is quite high  but it is a hobby and there's no rush... money isn't really important, we're all going leave our possesions behind one day, it is pretty fun, it doen't hurt anyone, you can use the big models as paperweights...

Cool your paint jobs sound Simular to how mine were. I did Black base, with Red Highlights, and the only other colour I used was gun metal (of course) which I used on weapons (duh) and as a dry brush over on some areas of armour to give a slight matalic look.

KNow what you mean about leaving possesions behind, but I am at the stage of thinking "why should I have money to 'waste' on luxaries I dont need at all, when some people (the majority of the world in fact) has far less than me?"

Not dissing anything. Hey am I about to sell all my possetions? no! But food for thought. Money DOES matter :(

I couldn't agree more. Sadly, money is something that makes this world work and this ecomomic system is so far advanced, that if this system was replaced - very big chance there willl be major problems (worse than what's here now).
