Perhaps, but the alternative on the Right is much worse. They are eating moderate, reasonable conservatives like McCain alive.
I suppose the liberalism of my youth was always doomed. It counted on people being smart...now it appeals to the dumb, which is a much easier group to manipulate. Why make rational arguments when you can just keep fueling a national outrage machine? Convince people that the most important issues are related to racism, sexism, gender, etc...and you've got yourself an endless supply of drones.
If its happening, its due to a well-orchestrated FUD (fear, uncertainty, doubt) campaign to suppress Democrat turnout.

I don't think the excuse of "the other guy is worse" is a valid reason to support an agenda.
The parties are polarizing. In some cases that could make politics more interesting and give us real choices for the first time in decades.
