The first day of the week when the disciples met to break bread (Acts 20) is linked with Christ as the firstfruits of them that slept (1 Corinthians 15.20) because of the Resurrection.

So, the resurrection was on a Sunday? Christ had to be buried right before sundown before the high day of Passover week. In 30AD the Passover fell on a Wednesday and the high day on a Thursday (see John 19:31). He had to be buried just before sundown when the Jewish day started. That means His resurrection after three days and three nights would have fallen on a Saturday evening.

However, we know from the biblical texts that Christ was crucified and buried on the day before the Sabbath--on a Friday.

Christ died and was buried on Friday.
Christ rested in the tomb on the Sabbath.
Christ rose from the dead on Sunday.

We know this because the Bible very plainly says so, that Christ was crucified on the day of preparation (the day before the Sabbath, Mark 15:42), and the day He rose from the dead is the first day of the week (Mark 16:1-2, Luke 24:1-2).

That's the data the Evangelists give us.

Want to guess what year this was? Well those are the data points one needs to consider.

No, that is what the Roman Catholics passed to you along with the weekly Sabbath. When you spun off of the great harlot you just became one of her daughters. Ask any Jew what the preparation day of Passover was. Their day was called the preparation before the high Sabbath. It was the day they put the leaven out of their abodes.

"And when evening had come, since it was the day of Preparation, that is, the day before the Sabbath, Joseph of Arimathea, a respected member of the Sanhedrin, who was himself looking for the kingdom of God, took courage and went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus." - Mark 15:42-43

Shabbat - Wikipedia

Jesus and His Apostles celebrated the Passover the night before, the same night He had been betrayed, that is why He had them go and prepare for the Passover by setting things up in the upper room:

"And on the first day of Unleavened Bread, when they sacrificed the Passover lamb, His disciples said to Him, 'Where will You have us go and prepare for You to eat the Passover?' And He sent two of His disciples and said to them, 'God into the city, and a man carrying a jar of water will meet you. Follow Him, and wherever He enters, say to the master of the house, 'The Teacher says, "Where is My guest room, where I may eat the Passover with My disciples?" and he will show you a large upper room furnished and ready; there prepare for us.' And the disciples set out and went to the city and found it just as He had told them, and they prepared the Passover.

And when it was evening, He came with the Twelve. And as they were reclining at table and eating, Jesus said, 'Truly, I say to you, one of you will betray Me, one who is eating with Me.'
" - Mark 14:12-18

Thursday night - Passover/Last Supper/betrayal and arrest
Friday - trial before Pilate, crucifixion, and burial
Saturday - in the tomb
Sunday - risen from the dead

It's all right there in the text.

Tradition changed most of that, so people don't have to believe it if they don't want to.
