• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

    If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

    If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

In the midst of my obsessions, this was a fantastic reminder of God's nature. I had to share...

Isaiah 40: 28-31:

Have you not known? Have you not heard?

The LORD is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He does not faint or grow weary;
his understanding is unsearchable.
He gives power to the faint,
and to him who has no might he increases strength.
Even youths shall faint and be weary,
and young men shall fall exhausted;
but they who wait for the LORD shall renew their
strength;
they shall mount up with wings like eagles;
they shall run and not be weary;
they shall walk and not faint.

Often I close my mind to things I know to be true when I am fretting about God forgiving me and loving me. For example, I know that God took away my depression and anxiety one day, instantly, in answer I think to my sister's prayer. I'm sure the Holy Spirit spoke to my heart once. Yet when I am stressing and doubting, it's like I choose to forget these things. Sometimes they seem unreal, along with everything else, including God Himself, not to mention God the Holy Spirit which I cannot wrap my head around and find difficult to believe in.

Your honesty is admirable, Kazkoss. I also fret often about God forgiving me and loving me. However, the more you learn about God and His nature through the Word, the more is revealed. He is LOVING, FORGIVING, PATIENT AND KIND.

God's existence is overwhelming, and in times of stress and doubt, His distance can seem so great. God may even seem unreal to you during these times. I picture God swirling around you in the times you doubt his existence, waiting to bless you. Next time you doubt (even if it's just ocd or stress), look around. Be a detective and you will see the Lord at work.

The Trinity and presence of the Holy Spirit is difficult for anyone to wrap their minds around. Once we "figure God out" with our human minds, we are no longer talking about God. At some point we rest in faith.

May you have a genuine encounter with the Living God today, my friend. You may have to seek it. He continues to seek you. Marc

I pray the eyes of your heart would be enlightened, so that you might know the hope of His calling, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and the incomparably great power for us who believe. Ephesians 1:18-19
