  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Wow, everyone is doing nothing. :)

Ok, ok I'll go first. :)

Grace is doing better and getting into a better routine finally. She has days where she sleeps and days where she is awake almost all day. Today was one of those fun days. I was going to get involved with MOPS but am scared to have her in class with me not sure how she will be.

Oh & for those who post in WD as well as here, I'm taking a break maybe for good not so sure yet.

Go along to MOPS. I've never been to one, but I'm sure she'll be fine. If she's not, then you can leave, or leave the room to "get her fine" (as in feed, change, rock to sleep in pram - whatever) and then go back in.

Today is a quiet one for me. Ds is at school, dd is at home playing megablocks princess castle, she puts her ponies in there. Very cute. She's been invited to a birthday party next week. So it's all very exciting. Lots of things happening around here.

What is MOPS? I agree with Neenie - go. I find that the 'interesting' days get are easier when we're busy.:)

I'm at university at the moment with my little one. I have an assessment (a presentation) in just under an hour so I'm revising. I'm going to leave Matt with my dad while I give it, then I'm going to drive home to Sydney and have dinner with my husband:) while we discuss our budget. My husband wants to buy a car, and I'm not convinced we can afford to run one.

We are just getting started on our homeschooling journey. So far it seems that this is the right direction for our family. Yesterday was my son's first day at a Waldorf homeschool class and it was such fun (I know that sounds corny but that is the only way to describe it). I do a mom's group that is similar to MOPS except that the mom's have an informal Bible study instead of a craft activity. I did that when he was an infant and I returned again this year. It took about 6 weeks for him to feel comfortable there without me but last week he actually said he likes mom's group. :)

We've been busy getting ready for the holidays :) We've also travelled a bit more than we've done so unpacking and repacking has been fun :p
Kiddo's are busy playing outside - they like to be outside and we are happy that we have a nice big yard and it's safe so they can play there.

llghoney, Please don't leave us forever! We all will miss you terribly!

Well, I've been so busy this week it is insane. Monday I took JD walking about 4km or so to the next town that joins to ours (through the fields and forest) so we could go shopping for a few items for some friends of ours expecting their boy on Jan 7th or so (I still say Xmas baby...).

Tuesday we went shopping to Ikea in Mannheim, which was a feat. I got some nice dishes on sale (6 place setting) for under 30 Euro which was great. We also got pot pies (two smalls and one large) partially made. I have to make more pie crust and cook it, then I can freeze it away.

Today I have to make the rest and see what I can get done around the house. Jonathan has had 4 teeth drop into his gums, two of which are starting to poke out, the front two we can just see are there and ready to drop anytime... and it's rough!
He wants to be held, then doesn't -- wants to play and doesn't.. we have something for him but we can't give it too often. The other frustrating is that he just does not sleep much. He needs it, but pretty much refuses unless he hits the wall running.

We have found if he's just bored stiff that he likes one set of songs, so we got the CD to keep him happy. :D LOL -- anything that works at this moment of exasperation!

Tomorrow we have friends coming over, for dinner and to work on computers (boys! grr, can't live with or without them).

Friday I have to clean like crazy, get set up for the Baby shower we're hosting on Saturday and get things ready for Shabbat. I'm hoping to get some muffins or something made so we have something ready to eat. I have to play around with our slow cooker again, so I might try making something in it again for a hot lunch on Saturday (starting it Friday night).

Saturday we will have about 8 people over for the party, so I'm trying to come up with games and things to do on a low budget, for people not so used to having baby showers (it's the new "in thing" here in Germany to have a ""Baby Party"").

I'm wanting to get some twine put up and some little clothespins so we can hang sayings up.. but I dunno if we will get that far. If not, the second plan is that everyone has a place setting with a saying, so "S" and "J" have something to take home and put in the baby book. One game is trying baby food blind folded, and I want to sit down and make a crossword (in German) with baby related things in it and whomever finds the most gets a prize. Another would be who can change the baby the fastest (I guess JD is game for that one... LOL) and we have a "guess the baby juice" game, in that everyone gets a bottle.. LOL

I still have cake and cookies to make.. I must have been insane to sign up for this without more help.. I have the icing made, but I have to make the cake... and the cookies will be complicated if JD doesn't cooperate.

I just hope it doesn't get rescheduled or people conveniently forget again. It's hard to plan this kind of thing secretly as is. LOL We spend so much time together that it's hard to keep secrets.

I get nervous taking her out still by myself for a long time due to she gets kinda fussy. Yesterday I went to the store & she broke out big time. She's not liking her car seat I think.

Where we live we have to ahve a car but if I didn't have to I probably would be like you & not have one.

We went to the library this morning. I ran into lots of people I know for some reason. One person I hadn't talked to in several years and she has one toddler now and we had a funny conversation like this,

Her "Do you stay at home *all the time*?"
Me "uhh.... well.... we're not home now..." (we're at the library)
"No! I mean are you a stay at home mom all the time? Do you do everything without HELP!?!?"

I thought that was cute, she thought I should have hired help :p

LOL Leanna! That'd be one of those moments I'd likely say something like "nah, I go fly my broomstick 'round the house sometimes... gotta get my exercise some days.." or "Nah, sometimes I send them out in the yard to fend for themselves!" and just grinned to see if they go it... :D

I got my pot pies made and two frozen.. tomorrow I have house cleaning. Tonight I have gift wrapping and to put groceries away.. I don't know what I will do since they are coming over tomorrow O_O I have to keep a really tight lip. LOL

I get my hair cut (11 inches or so gone...!) on Friday, so tomorrow we will "document" (as DH said) my hair to show how long it was before being cut and styled. I'll be donating to Locks of Love. :) I don't know if I will do it again or not, but it has definitely been cool having my hair as long as it has been. It's just time to do something different again :D

Oh, I wasn't sure if you were quitting CF or just WD (I post there often although I find this to be my home board. I come here first and stop here last before leaving CF. What can I say, I am passionate about parenting and children :p)

Why are you taking a break from WD? Do you mind sharing?

I thought that was cute, she thought I should have hired help :p

Do many moms in your area have live in nannies or hired help? Many in my area do and they generally are older as well (began having children closer to age 40).

Regarding library, the woman who heads the story hour my son attends is very dry and doesn't do a great job engaging the children. My son has never ever used the word "bored" in his entire 3.5 yrs until last Wednesday's class. He turned to me and said, "Mom, I'm bored" I didn't even know that he knew what that word meant or even how to use it in the proper context. I tried again this week and he was just not interested. I like storytime as it adds an element to our homeschooling experience....bummer.

Well the baby is trying to crawl. He gets up on all fours but can't go forward, occasionally he'll move backwards a little LOL He gets so mad though that he can't crawl yet and after a while will start screaming.

Liam is testing his boundaries majorly right now and is putting all the new words he's learning to use so all day I hear "No!!!!" Mine!!!!" "Let go!!!!". But when he's not being a terror he's still my sweet boy :)

Kat just started 2nd grade and is loving science and history. She's also finally developing a love of reading. While she's been a perfectly capable reader for a while she just didn't want to do it before but now she's understanding that with reading comes learning fun stuff. She's also really enjoying the homeschool group we joined and loves hanging out with the other kids and going on field trips.

ROFL. Some people are like that though.

I know a SAHM mum of 4 who regularly hires me to babysit her 2 youngest (that don't go to school) so she can just do everyday things that I am used to taking my kids along to. Her kids are pretty well behaved too, it's not like they are horrible, I just don't think she likes taking them out and about very much. She also has a cleaner once a week.

HS, I wanna see pics!! Oh & what is baby doing while you are doing all this work? I sometimes feel guilty because I have to put Grace in her crib or swing or what not so I can do things.

MsDahl, I'll Pm ya.

Mrs. A2J, Grace does the same thing when I put her on her tummy she gets soooo fussy but I leave her for a few because she is going to have to learn to crawl. :) But she does try tp push & push herself. I need to vid it it's kinda funny.

Peace in the Valley why don't they eat?

Ya know Neenie on the help part my mom & hubby were tryign sooo ahrd to get someone to come & clean my house but I figured I can do a little here & there. But if I had a lot of kids I may consider for sure especially when they are infants. It would be different if hubby helped but no such luck.

I think she's just new to being a SAHM, and she works part time. Its hard to imagine how to get three out of the house when still adjusting to taking one out. It does take some time to get out of the house that's for sure.

I wish I did have some hired help sometimes, maybe a cleaning lady. I might look more into that when next expecting. I would rather spend time on other things.

DS is almost a year old! I can't believe it. He is so funny and smart. He already says a bunch of words and is pulling up to standing now. He still doesn't crawl, but he scoots around and rolls over and stuff.

I'd like to go to something like MOPS, but I'm not ready to put him in a group nursery yet.

Time is flying by!! Oh & with the group here they said that I can bring her in class with me but I'm not so sure that is a good idea with a infant. Although it's probably gonna get harder the older she gets. :)

I might look more into that when next expecting.

I so admire you for wantng more kids. :)
