  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

so if cf was in charge of electing next president, who would it be? no campaigning plzkthx, just vote. if you want a write-in, then choose other and tell who they is. this list is taken straight from my mail-in ballot (san bernardino county, ca) in the exact order it was printed. list is in president:vice president (party) format.

edit: if a mod could edit the poll to end in two weeks...?

Wasn't the Constitution Party candidate Baldwin/Castle?
Might not have made the ballot in Ca.

Truthfully, I don't know who will win.
Its going to be another close one.
I tend to believe Obama might win popular vote, but how the electorals play out, I don't know.

Vote for the candidate you want, don't vote or not vote because they say it's guaranteed.

Interesting. So far neither of the major candidates has earned a majority of the vote. I don't think that's likely to happen in the case of the actual election. However its one of the reasons I think we should go to run-off elections.

Typically one candidate will receive a simple majority of votes. However a third party candidate can skew the numbers. We call them 'spoilers'. In the case where Candidate A receives 40% of the votes and Candidates B and C receive 35% and 25% respectively, Candidate A is declared the winner. I find that curious because 60% of the voters did not want candidate A to be President.

In such a case (while rare) I think the top two candidates should then be run as the only two candidates and we should vote again.

yeah, except that then subjects us to yet ANOTHER round of attack and differentiation ads. but other than that, it does make a good idea. but depends on how long after the election that you planned the run-off for.
