  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Has any Catholic here notice or seen when a Eucharist falls on the Church floor, by accident when one is receiving, the priest pauses and makes sure that the Eucharist is immediately picked up and that no smallest of fragments of the Eucharist is left behind on the floor. Well, MANY FORGET that when one receives the Eucharist on their hand that there also can be fragments/dust, of the Eucharist left on their hands after they put the Eucharist onto their tongue/mouths. (Or do you want to gamble with the Lord Body)

Tell me what is the difference between fragments of the Eucharist on the floor or Fragments of the Eucharist left on YOUR hands, which then falls to the floor unaware to you? This is SO SAD!

In order for this not to happen, A Catholic Must receive the Most Holy Eucharist on their tongue!!!

After reading this, and yet receive the Eucharist on YOUR hand you don't really care about the Body and Blood of Christ if there are any smallest of fragments left on your hand, where perhaps you dust it off without knowing. NOW YOU KNOW!

Receive always on the Tongue. It pains me to see many receiving the Eucharist on their hands place it on their tongue then walk away WITHOUT noticing nor investigating/inspecting their hands that there could be the smallest fragment unseen by their naked eyes on their
hand. Shame!

Catholics, Virus or no Virus, Recieve the Most Holy Eucharist on your tongue.

I do receive the Eucharist on the tongue. I do it because cardinal Sarah asked. And I won't go back.

But receiving the Eucharist in the hand, even if not wise or good, is allowed. Maybe it shouldn't be, but it is. Shaming people is not the right approach. Asking them to change is.

What I began to do in the last years of still receiving the Eucharist in the hand was to examine my hands for any fragments, and then if I saw any, I would lick them up. And I checked that what is meant by a fragment is something that a person with normal eyesight could actually see. Smaller than that, molecules and the like, are not considered to be fragments of the Body of Christ.

Now for years before that I didn't give it a thought. And who knows. It was not out of irreverence, but ignorance. Now that I know, and now that I have finally changed by way of receiving, I wouldn't go back. And yet, since receiving the Eucharist in the hand is allowed, the most we should do is 1.) educate about fragments, so people can inspect their hands carefully, and 2.) speak favorably of the option of receiving the Eucharist on the tongue, and 3.) ask as cardinal Sarah did, that people do receive the Eucharist more and more reverently, particularly on the tongue.

Your position that we all MUST do this then demands too much. But it is a good ask. More and more people should switch over. I'm asking that everyone who reads this prayerfully try it. For me it was awkward at first. Awkward for months. But now it's become normal.

I think the fears of disease transmission from the Eucharist are overblown. I think the chances of disease transmission from receiving the Eucharist on the tongue are particularly exaggerated. It seems as clean or cleaner than on the hand. What we should be asking is that sick people stay home, that shaking hands be curtailed, and that receiving the Eucharist via the cup be curtailed. And maybe that we not consider it our right every week to take communion, but to receive it more reverently even if less often.
