  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

who says all viruses are bad. i suggest that someone programs a virus that deletes *.mpeg avi etc... yes all vid files. or ones that have explicit names etc... or one that just deletes files with key words in name. if we want the internet to be pure someday we have to stand against it.

Interesting idea... I'm not sure it would work the way it would be intended, though. I can see it now... The Helpful Handyman's Video on 'How to Screw Broad Boards' would get deleted while the sexually explicit 'Dick Jane and Spot' video remains on the computer. No, I don't know if that was/is actually a video, and I don't think I want to know. ;)

lol thats a hilarious idea, but can you imagine deleting all somones family videos that they have stored on their computer? i would say to stick to the deleting files with explicite names and to *.avi or *.mpeg. Lol we should start im committee for creating the christian anti-porn virus hehe.

Aaah, and there is the dilemma: who defines what is 'explicit' and offensive? The only way to censor the internet is self-censorship in my opinion. Using filtering software and guarding against going to websites that may contain offensive content is a good start.

there is tons of kiddie porn on the internet. no one can state otherwise. what if your kids pic was on the net somewhere. wouldnt you want to get it gone. i myself am only an uncle, i simply wish to put a foot forward towards a pure internet.

you are either fighting against it or for it. god taught us that a neutral stance is not good.

he spits the lukewarm water from his mouth. take a stance and defend it well...

Yes, yes, police other people's lives for them.

What of property rights here? Who gives you the right to put a virus on someone else's computer to enforce your morality on them? The government needs authorisation and good reason before it can tap your phone - why should some virus writer be allowed to police data communications with your PC without reason?

There is indeed a need to do something about child pornography - which is a totally different issue (adult porn is exploitative; child porn is abusive), but your solution isn't it. Besides anything else, you don't want to delete the evidence - you need it in court. Your solution treats the end product - digitised images - but leaves the actual problem - the production of the pornography in the first place - untouched.

Incidently - implying that people who don't support your stance are "luke warm" really is spiritual blackmail of the most manipulative kind. Leave it out.

oddchild, nice thought, but I'm gonna have to disagree.

The bible tells us specifically not to steal, and this would most likely include not stealing or destroying another person's property, even if it is pornographic videos on their home computer. There is nothing in the bible that would permit you to do this, it would be breaking the law, and not appropriate to further your cause.

I don't think that Christ would approve of you destroying someone's personal property, what would it accomplish? Would you turn these people away from porn for good? NO, they would be on the internet and have some new stuff in a matter of minutes. I guess I don't really see the good that it would do, but I think you have good intentions. I don't like porn, I am very blessed to have a man who does not and never has had any interest in it. I do however know those who are addicted to it, and losing the pics from their computer will not change that addiction.

My own opinion, A virus or anything that automatically deletes anything like that is one of the stupidest ideas I've ever heard of......If I have a file on my computer, explicit or not it's there because I put it there and no one has any business sending me a virus to delete it just because they don't like it on MY computer.....

If you study human society, you should know that the harder something is, the harder people fight to accomplish it.

By making such virus, you would not improve anything at all. People would actually look harder, so that they can get what they want! Cant you see the people using drugs? It's illegal and people still try to get at any price!

Besides, there are the magazines, TV, movies, etc. which are, not surprisingly, more accessed than the internet in less developed countries.....(Blah, Blah, Blah)

I was thinking EXACLTY the same thing. Viruses, intended for good or bad, tick me off. I don't wish good things on people who let viruses loose on the unsuspecting.
