Be of Good Cheer Jesus said to His disciples, I have overcome the world. Those same words apply to us also. Be of good cheer Christians Jesus has overcome the world.
Probably most of you have heard the song Victory In Jesus. The words in that song tell the gospel story as good as any song that I know of.
O victory in Jesus my savior for ever, He sought me and bought me with His redeeming blood.
How true that song is, He sought me, we did not go looking for Jesus. He came looking for us. If it had not been for the Holy Spirit drawing us to the Lord Jesus, we would have never been saved.
1 John 5:4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, [even] our faith.
We already have the victory it is not something we are going to get, we have victory now.
We have victory now because the Lord Jesus arose from the grave the third day. It is our faith in Him and what He did for us. Our faith in Jesus death, burial and resurrection is what gives us the victory now.
It is not having faith to move mountains; it is not having faith to pray and heal the sick, and it is not having faith to walk on water that gives the victory. Ephesians 2:8,9
8. For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9. Not of works, lest any man should boast.
Victory is something we receive not something we do. When we received Jesus as our Lord and savior, we received victory.
1 John 5:5 Who is he that overcomes the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?
1 Corinthians 15:57 But thanks [be] to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Victory is not something we will have in the future; it is what we have at this moment. Now is in the present tense.
