  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Not a vegetarian, but wanted to mention that you can find some vegetarian foods (mostly dog foods), however, they are not recommended unless your dog has a severe allergy to meat-based proteins. Cats are strict carnivores and don't really process grains very well at all, dogs are pretty much carnivores, but handle grains and vegetables much better than cats do. There's a reason why so many animals have allergies to corn and wheat in their food, ya know ;)

Now I see nothing wrong with a human being a vegetarian but why force it upon your naturally carnivorous pets? We are omnivorous by nature which means that we can eat either meat or grains/vegetables. Actually, that's what we're meant to eat. But a human can survive on vegan stuff alone if they make sure they get enough protein and essential acids and stuff like that. But I honestly don't feel like it's a good idea to turn your naturally carnivorous pet into a vegetarian. This especially goes for cats considering what Dagna said.

I agree. I'm a vegetarian but my pets eat meat.

Hi.

I don't know really what you could feed your meat-eating pets that's non-meat. I wouldn't do it, but if that's what you truly believe do it. You could give them milk I guess. I think that they would be healtiest on meat though. You could ask others who feed their pets non-meat products what they use.

God bless!

Yeah I didn't really doubt that vegetarians/vegans would feed meat to their eating pets. I was just wondering how they reconciled their beliefs (for those who are vegetarian on principle) that 'meat is murder' with giving meat to their pets.

i am a vegan, but i still eat refined sugars and eggs every once in a while. i think it is hypocritical to be veg and feed your pets meat. it ust dosent make sense. i just get natural food at wild oats. they make it! the only exception i make is for my fish, because they have to eat little shrimp. thats the only exception i make though. once again, its a personal issue and varies. this is just my opinion.
