I was a detective for many years. I've heard the same reasoning coming from people who became drug addicts and some even died because they wanted to fit in with the crowd. Take some time to visit hospitals to see the outcome of what we eat. Don't start eating meat again just to fit in if your heart is telling you something different.

Now I'm not saying it's a sin to eat meat but if you can go without it it would be much better for you in the long run. To be a vegtarian and then go back to eating meat is like someone who quit smoking and then went back to it. Many times even the same reasoning is used.

Well I think I understand all that, I WAS a vegan for FIVE YEARS. haha.
It is rather difficult to avoid everything. I still don't eat cow or pork because I just have so little want to, and I don't think anyone minds that. But as a vegan, I had to make sure everything did not TOUCH meat, dairy, or eggs. I absolutely got used to it, but there were times when I was poor, and hungry, and offered food, and I had to say no due to these requirements I had given MYSELF, and not what I was told to do by God.
If someone offered me ribs I would decline politely, but a homemade cookie? I will take one thank you.

Guys, I am 24 years old and have been vegetarian almost half of my life. No one in my family is vegetarian, at ALL, and I made the choice when I was in middle school when it was absolutely NOT the cool thing to do.
I have zero motivation towards trying to "fit in". I am a big health nut still and have a spinach smoothie every morning. Don't think I don't get made fun of for that.
It's just that being 100% vegetarian no longer is for me. I still eat mostly vegetarian though, and scripture does not say I can not.

I think you are taking the sensible approach...

I would however advise you to stay away from the unclean foods... pork, shellfish etc, as they are scavengers like buzzards and seagulls are.

Here is a witness of the spirit of Jesus Christ through Paul that is an over-all guide to us and whereby the Lord has unraveled perplexities in my heart and mind over the issues, through various modes of eating and not eating, since I was 12 and joined the SdA church, of which I am not now an active member but I have nothing against the SdA church and doctrines.

The SdA doctrines are a good and useful form of thought to bring us to Jesus. I was contented in my church fellowship with other believers and learned of Jesus.

Phil 3:15-21
15 Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you.
16 Nevertheless, whereto we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us mind the same thing.
17 Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an ensample.
18(For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ:
19 Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.)
20 For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:
21 Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself. KJV

We should be temperate in all things, with moderation and seek holiness of life and disposition, but we should remember that the body is vile. Job's vileness was a powerful revelation/vision to him that humbled him into the dust and ashes of this life. See the last chapter of Job.

The body must needs be changed or our faith/sabbath keeping/healthful living will be in vain and we will still be in our sins. Translation/rapture is a living death in changing the vile body from its natural state, dead in sin, unto a spiritual body wherein dwells righteousness.

May the grace of God in Jesus Christ guide us as we consider this most delicate proposition to our hearts and minds.

Joe

I was raised a vegetarian, and definitely know it is an acceptable choice. However, vegan is iffy in my eyes, and I don't care for the PETA position. I do know that the choice of what we eat has no spiritual significance. I would eat less meat if it was't so convienient!

They might be termed scavengers, but that is a term conferred on them by us that is rather arbitrary. Whatever their food source might be, it does not affect the nutritional value of their flesh.

Foods (including vegetables) become dangerous because of the way we handle them, not by virtue of their place in the food chain.

My sentiments exactly! Minus the portion I omitted
