  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Comments made by a Senior Vatican Official about President Obama's decision to overturn the "global gag rule".

What is important is to know how to listen... without locking oneself into ideological visions with the arrogance of a person who, having the power, thinks they can decide on life and death

It seems to me that the Archbishop's could go both ways, when he's accusing the President of being so arrogant as to believe that he is always right (a fundamental Catholic belief when it comes to matters of faith and morals) and again when he's talking about the arrogance of making a decision between life and death.

Hipocracy or not?

Not hypocrisy because the Church's faith in the guarantee of truth is by the Holy Spirit. The archbishop is saying Obama is placing himself above God.

Correct. Jesus promised the Spirit of Truth to the Church. He never promised the Spirit of Truth to the president of the United States.

Obama's promotion od abortion policies is enough proof that he stands against God
