  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

This is for updates about Canucks and what they should do and what you've heard they did and so on. Also debate who is better and who we should keep and get rid of.
All of them.

Just kidding.

I hear Markus Naslund will be on the cover of the new NHL 2005 video game (I'm not a gamer so I'm clueless about them but I'd probably buy this one! lol!!).

Any word on whether or not there will even BE a hockey season?

Whether you love him or hate him....pray for Bertuzzi on July 9th.

Yeah, but he gets the wins. I think keep him unless we have someone we are for sure know they will produce what we need. Why say hmmm...he looks good and he turns out to be worst then Cloutier? The fans will hate it, Cloutier is good untill we either get a Martin Brouder (we will never unless we hold onto someone long enough) or bring Alex Auld up to NHL and play #1 Goaltender and see if he is ready.

Cloutier is a very good goalie and has really improved in his positioning over the last year, who knows what would have happened if he wasn't injured. Kiprusoff was on "fire" (haha) this year, he made all the big saves at the right times...etc, Next year he might not be so "hot" even though he plays just as good. Basically all the NHL's starting goalies are equal or very close to it as far as talent goes, the difference in some is how they deal with pressure. Kiprusoff never had 2 bad games in a row which is because of his mental ability not so much his physical talent. All you can ask from a goalie is that he plays good positionally, is mentally strong, works hard, puts it all out for the team, and steals a game here and there. After that it just comes down to a bounce here or there whether your team advances or plays golf.

Oh and FREE BERTUZZI !
What you all talking about - free Bertuzzi ??!! Just because you are Canuck fans and he's one of the best players does NOT take away from the fact that what he did was INEXCUSABLE period. He deliberately intented to injury the guy (for the life of me can't remember his name) AND his chances of returning to play in the NHL are greatly diminished. :sigh:

Is loyalty to a team so blind that justice takes the fall ?? C'MON PEOPLE - enough is enough already. Bertuzzi got off real easy and he and his handlers know it.:sigh:

Ray

What Bert did was wrong and he should pay the price (by the NHL), now the courts are involved and even critics of Bertuzzi say it's a waste of time and money although it will be good for the prosecutors career. I think Bertuzzi should be punished and I think the NHL has done that as well as the media, but he's really been demonized for something which shouldn't have done much damage. In most cases, Steve Moore would have got up and played the next shift... but the damage was done obviously in way they fell. Some say Bertuzzi intentionally drove his head into the ice... look again, Bertuzzi was totally off balance trying to hold onto Moore who must have been knocked out by the punch. Then everyone piled on. Bertuzzi is just too strong and I don't think he realized that, he does now. I do however think it would be refreshing for the league to accept their part as well as the coach of the Avalanche. Moore runs Nasland and... the NHL does nothing, they hear all the talk before the game and the league does...nothing, the game gets totally out of hand, Moore avoids fighting all night long, the game is just getting ugly beyond belief but yet Moore is out there taking his shift with the game at 9-2 or whatever, great coaching by the Avs. Moore along with about 4-5 other guys should have been tossed in the 1st or 2nd period by the officials. I don't know where he was all night, but the Avs coach must not have been watching the game that night if he had Moore out on the ice in a game that out of control.
